We will proctor Microsoft Office Specialist certification exams for 2013 Excel,
PowerPoint, Word, Access and Outlook at the Hampton Memorial Library in Easley
on: Wednesday, September 21 at 10am and Wednesday, October 12 at 2pm.
Exams are free, but space is limited so you must call to register. We strongly
recommend that you register for Microsoft Imagine Academy in order to effectively
prepare for the exams. Microsoft Imagine is free; just ask a library staff member,
call 850-7077, or email [email protected] to sign up.

The Easley Friends of the Library invite you to learn more about the wonders of Pickens County’s
past and present. A series of talks by local experts will be presented over the next several months
to help you get to know Pickens County a little better. Whether you’ve lived here your entire life,
or you’re just passing through, you’re sure to get something from these entertaining and
educational programs. The series commences with a presentation by

presented by Shirley Sarlin
Tuesday, September 13th at 7pm at Liberty High School
Former Liberty resident Shirley Sarlin will discuss her exciting career in the performing arts, as well as
her steadfast commitment to keeping the arts alive in Pickens County. Ms. Sarlin studied drama at The
American Academy of Dramatic Art in New York City, as well as the University of North Carolina, and has
appeared in over 65 theatrical productions in various states. She served on the Pickens County Arts
Commission for 28 years, nine of those as chairwoman. She has established awards for Liberty High
School students who excel in drama, chorus, and band. This special event is FREE and OPEN TO ALL.

and eat amazing food! Each month a featured theme or cookbook is available at the circulation desk. Make a dish and bring it to

Teen Art Contest
All teens in grades 6-12 are invited to submit original artwork to our biannual Teen Art Contest.
Entries accepted: September 1- September 30, 2016
Winners will be announced at a Teen Art Gala on Tuesday, October 11th at 4:30pm.at the Hampton Memorial
Library in Easley. Winning selections will be displayed in the Teen Area at the Hampton Memorial Library in
Easley for six months, and for an additional six months at the library branches.
Official Rules:





Submissions must be the original work of the entrant.
Artwork should be no larger than 16 in. x 20 in.
An official entry form MUST accompany submissions. Submissions without an entry
form will be disqualified.
Winners’ names may appear in the media and in library communications. The library will
have permission to photograph and/or reprint images of the artwork for publicity/archival
purposes.
Works that are not selected for exhibition may be picked up following the Art Gala.
Works that are chosen for exhibition become the property of the library for the 12 months
that they are on display.
