BLESSED SACRAMENT MASS SCHEDULE Saturday: 8:00 a.m. & 4:30 p.m. Sunday: 8:00 a.m. & 11:00 a.m. Weekday Mass: 8:00 a.m. CONFESSIONS Saturdays: 3:30 to 4:25 p.m. or by appointment at Blessed Sacrament. OUR LADY OF LOURDES MASS SCHEDULE Sunday: 9:30 a.m. BAPTISMS Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: Since Baptism is not a private celebration, but an incorporation in the large community of the Church, Baptisms are ordinarily celebrated on the fourth Sunday of each Month after the 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Masses. WEDDINGS Couples intending Marriage should call the Rectory at least six months in advance of the planned date. RCIA Please call the Rectory if you know of someone who is interested in learning about the Catholic Faith. DEATH IS SURE. THIS IS THE THIRD WEEK OF LENT: In today’s first reading, God reveals his name to Moses. To know a person’s name is to be able to call upon him. However, the ancient Jewish people would never say aloud the name of God: “I AM WHO AM (YHWH).” We are so fortunate to know that God’s son’s name is “Jesus.” Although we should keep that same respect as the Jewish people, we can call upon the name of Jesus freely and at any time we need. Please remember that as you journey forward during this Lenten season. Some helps are available this Lent. I encourage you to attend daily Mass at 8 am at BLS, if not every day, at least a few days, during the week. Stations of the Cross are prayed on Fridays at 7 pm at OLL. Please read daily from the “Little Black Book” you were sent in the mail. And finally, please make some room in your life for daily prayer and meditation—just sitting quietly with God. Please take this time of Lent seriously. May it be a time of growing closer to the Lord in this life so that we can live with him eternally in the next. PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR RCIA CANDIDATES: Who will be fully initiated into the Catholic Church at this year’s Easter Vigil: (Catechumens): Shannyn Dusi, Michael Trikones, Jessica Van Camp; (Candidates): Gary Borham, Callie Clark, Tom Phillips. Please remember them in your daily prayers throughout this Lenten season. BISHOP MONFORTON WILL BE PRESIDING AT MASS: I invite you to come to our Lenten series this Wednesday, March 2. Mass will be celebrated at 5:15pm in Blessed Sacrament Church by Bishop Monforton followed by a presentation on “Mercy in the Mission of the Church at 6 pm. The evening will conclude with a soup and bread dinner in the social hall. I encourage everyone to come to this evening for a great Lenten experience on mercy, especially because this is the Year of Mercy. Blessed Sacrament Schedule March 4: Stella Hornyak & Michelle John March 11: Jane Barney & Jean Dalfonso Liturgical Ministers Schedule for March 5th & March 6th Saturday 3/5 4:30pm at BLS: Lectors: EMHC: Altar Servers: Lew Musso Jane Barney Kenzie Zamberlan Barry Gale Kathy DiBenedetto A. Connor Luca Connor Lectors: EMHC: Altar Servers: Danielle Conlon Linda Berkey Christina Recznik Mark Recznik Nancy Garner Ethan Brown Olivia Brown 9:30am at OLL: Lector: Altar Server: Mary Ann Cordier Austyn Roberts 11:00am at BLS Lectors: EMHC: Altar Servers: Judy Call Ben Osso Haley Cherepko John DuBois Cindy Gregor Natalie Cherepko Anthony Barber Sunday 23/6 8:00am at BLS “Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.” (pertaining to today’s first reading: Exodus 3: 1-8A,13-15) Churches. Shrines. Monasteries. Cemeteries. When we think of consecrated territory, this is the list that comes to mind. We’re a little slower to add others to the list: Home. Marriage. Family. The place you occupy right at this moment. We could paint with a broad brush and declare all the world is holy – which means those places where horrors take place daily are desecrations of God’s holy creation, if not sacrileges against God’s holy people. Is your work space holy? Or a hospital? Can a jail cell be sacred space where holy purposes can be achieved? Or a slum? Moses found holy ground at work, while tending flocks in wild lands. The desert was considered a place where the devil played before this. It became a place to which monks and nuns fled to escape the evils of civilization later. Any place where you encounter God and let the meeting change your life is holy. Take off your shoes!!!! (Alice Camille) Consider holy places you visit regularly. How can you acknowledge each as a sacred space? PRAYER FOR MERCY: Lord, help me to be as merciful to those who offend me as you are with me when I offend you.
