Go sell what you have, and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.” At that statement his face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions. [Mark 10:21-22] Have you ever had anyone look at you like that? Someone who knows your heart and sees your good intentions but also sees your naivety but accepts you unconditionally? Rare is the moment when we are called to all that we can be. Only love can do this. Thank God if you have had a friend or family member who can love you so totally, yet still call you to grow. God calls us all to stretch, to reach out to one another, to grow beyond our limits and to trust that he will be there for us. One good example of this is our Stewardship Program called “Giving Hands, Loving Hearts,” and the way so many of you completed and submitted your Commitment Card to the church. Thank you for empowering us to grow as a parish family. For those parishioners who have not yet taken this opportunity to discern about increasing their contribution, a letter will be mailed to you with a personalized Commitment Card. It is helpful if all parishioners complete a Commitment Card because then we know you belong to the parish and we can send out a Summary Report of the program and have all commitments accounted for in the report. If you have any questions, please contact me. We also encourage folks to consider our electronic giving method, so you can set up your re-occurring offertory gifts electronically. Thank you for your generous response! Question for the week: Can you name a time when you let go of your comfort to serve something greater? What can we do to simplify our lives and lifestyles? Your Pastor, Fr. Bob Su Pastor, P. Bob Second Collection is for Maintenance needs for our aging buildings. We seek to nourish our commitment with faith formation, hospitality, and stewardship, while always striving to embrace the cross of the needy. I asked for strength Yo pido valor I asked for strength that I might achieve; I was made weak that I might learn humbly to obey. I asked for health that I might do greater things; I was given infirmity that I might do better things. I asked for riches that I might be happy; I was given poverty that I might be wise. I asked for power that I might have the praise of men; I was given weakness that I might feel the need of God. I asked for all things that I might enjoy life; I was given life that I might enjoy all things. I got nothing that I had asked for, But everything that I had hoped for. Almost despite myself my unspoken prayers were answered; I am, among all men, most richly blessed.
