EXAMINATION OF CONSCIENCE GUIDES CAN BE
FOUND IN EACH VESTIBULE. They are based on the Ten
Commandments and are for you to take and keep.
CHECK OUT THE PARISH BOOKLET RACK for
items to purchase in honor of our Patroness, Saint
Rita of Cascia. The 5-piece kits (zip-lock bags) are good
for any occasion, but especially in times of illness or
suffering. Please use the payment envelopes found in the
upper right hand corner.

Duke Street abortion facility. See column one for this month’s

SPECIAL THANKS
to all those who so generously contributed both monetary
donations and baby items to our recent Respect Life Baby
Shower. We are so very grateful!!! Watch the bulletin for
further details.
Our charity should be prompt and cheerful, free of self-love and the
desire to “make an impression.” Let it be “hidden in Christ Jesus” who
sees all and will reward us at the proper time. Live Christ!
PENTECOST SUNDAY
SPECIAL
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Celebrating 60 Years of Academic Excellence
Please join us this Sunday, May 19th as Saint Rita School
celebrates its 60th Anniversary. Brunch will be served in the
School Hall at 1:00PM. Come share your memories!
Summer’s Coming!
We’re looking ahead to the 3rd Annual
Winter Clothing Collection and Distribution.
Sort through your outgrown and no longer
needed, but serviceable winter clothing. Please
store your items at home until September when
they will be collected for October distribution.
Moving soon??? We’ll take your clothing now. Umbrellas and
rain gear also needed, as well as shoes and boots. For more
information, or an immediate pick-up, please contact Susanne
Arnold at 703-683-5138 or [email protected].
It’s Vacation Time!
As you plan your summer vacation, please
keep this in mind: hunger never takes a
vacation and for the less advantaged the
summer months can be rough as local
food closets are often stretched to the
limit. Help fill the Loaves and Fishes Pantry in Front Royal.
Bring your donations to church the weekend of June 8-9 and put
them directly into the marked vehicles found on church property.
Suggested non-perishable foods: cereal, peanut butter, jelly,
coffee, tea, tuna, beef stew, pasta meals (ravioli, etc.), canned
fruit, mac ’n cheese, cake mixes, and so on.
** Check our parish website for the bulletin dated May 12,
2013: Look for the “recycle” graphic in column 3 for more
ways to help those in need.
Holy Land Christians’ Display
On the weekend of June 22-23, there will be
a display of beautiful olivewood carvings
from the Holy Land in the Russell Road
vestibule. These carvings are made by the
Christians of Bethlehem who use them as
their source of income. These brothers and sisters of ours are
enduring hardships at this moment because of the volatile
situation in their home country. Christians in the Holy Land used
to be more than 30% of the population. There is less than 1% now
because of the situation. As Christians of faith, it is our duty to
support our brothers and sisters in Bethlehem. We can do this by
purchasing some of these beautiful carvings after Mass. For more

www.BethlehemCarvings.org. ~ No Catholic home should be
without a crucifix, religious statue, or other item of devotion. Every
member of every Catholic family should have their own Rosary. (You
can’t have too many Rosaries!) These religious items help express who
we are as devote members of the Holy Catholic Church. Live Christ!
Catholic Camp for Kids
Coming soon!!! June 24-28, 2013
This year’s theme is MARY.

Lots of happy kids,
and as many dedicated teachers and helpers
as will volunteer.
More details to follow …
For more information, and to volunteer,

703-836-1640, x25, or email Betsy at
[email protected].
Thanks to St. Rita Parish Women …
Our
appreciation to all women who completed the recent survey
and/ or attended the meeting with Father Gee on April 19th
regarding a new group for women of the parish. You
contributed many thoughtful comments, great ideas and
suggestions which will be used by a steering committee over
the next couple of months to determine the structure of the
organization. The plan is to have the group organized by
the Fall of 2013; stay posted for further developments.
