Headteacher’s Newsletter – Spring 2 (March 2016) Dear Parents and Carers New School Building Plans I am happy to be able to inform you that the new building plans have been approved by the Local Authority Planning Committee and the building works will start shortly after Easter. We will also be converting the house near the entrance to the school into a classroom and offices so that we can accommodate an additional Early Years class in September. Staff changes Ms Murphy has left the school to return to mainstream teaching and we will be joined by Mr L Belcher. Miss Lee, Ms Winiarczyk and Ms Markowska have all started their Maternity Leave. Mr Austin who has been working in the secondary department will be returning to Australia, and we will be welcoming two new Teaching assistants, Suzanne Burd and Ranjit Cheema. Breakfast club I am pleased that the school has been awarded a grant by the Jack Petchey Foundation in order to fund a breakfast club. We are currently piloting the scheme in order to find the best way to provide pupils with food and a drink that they like, that is also healthy and quick to serve. So far we have found that for a number of children who may have had a long journey to school this has helped with their concentration and their behaviour. We will now be exploring ways we can fund this in the future. Bags2School Don’t forget to bring your bags of unwanted, clean clothes, shoes and bags etc to school by Friday 15th April. The money raised for these items will go towards our Christmas collection.
