On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff, I would like to thank you for supporting Little Wonders tonight. The Spring Fling is a fun evening out and our most important fundraising event of the year. The funds raised at this event represent a significant portion of our school’s operating budget and enable us to retain our incredible teachers, maintain our beautiful facility, and provide new developmental toys and learning materials for the classroom. As in years past, we will have a “Fund-a-Need” program tonight, which gives you the opportunity to make donations directly towards the support of specific programs and purchase of specific items for the school. This year’s Fund-A-Need items include a SLR camera, financing our participation in municipal composting, and some fun new items for the classroom (a tree houselike dollhouse) and outdoor play area (some new ride toys). You can also make a donation to our WonderWork Fund, which provides tuition scholarships and assistance to Little Wonders’ families experiencing personal and medical hardships. I hope everyone will find something they would like to support. Many people worked tirelessly to create this special evening! I would like to thank Sara Vierra and Stacey Finney, our Spring Fling Co-Chairs, for their tremendous efforts in organizing this event, as well as our Auction Co-Chairs, Susan Shih and Alisa Ames, and our Contributions Co-Chairs, Susanna Prion, Sharon Tzeng, and Sarah Kinahan, for the countless hours they spent making sure our auction is a success. Special thanks also go to the many parents on the Auction, Contributions, Packaging and Spring Fling Committees, and our Auction Booklet Coordinators. And a heartfelt thank you to our Board members, Krysta North Lapcevic, Events Chair, and Jacquie Cooke Haggarty, Development Chair for their incredible vision and leadership. This was a small but very dedicated group of parents, and we cannot say how grateful we are for your dedication. Lastly, I would like to thank all of the donors and event sponsors, many of whom are Little Wonders parents, alumni and friends for their generous support! It has been amazing to see the collaboration and commitment on the part of so many of our parents that has led up to this wonderful event! Thank you all for joining together this evening to support Little Wonders! With sincere appreciation, Kristin Pepper Kristin Pepper President, Little Wonders 4 EVENING PROGRAM 7:00 p.m. 2013 Spring Fling Begins! Payroll, rent, insurance and maintenance expenses consume the bulk of your tuition and fundraising dollars. Each year, however, a relatively small portion of the Little Wonders budget is allocated for what you might call the “icing on the cake”: new toys for the classroom, classroom improvements, scholarship funds and special parent education night speakers. You can contribute directly to the icing, allowing Little Wonders to provide even more opportunities for your children and your family. The Board of Directors and Staff have identified a wish list they would love to see funded for the 2013-2014 school year. You can contribute to these initiatives by either 1) donating the value of an entire Fund-A-Need Item by listing the item and amount on the bid sheet, or 2) donating a cash pledge of any amount (no donation is too small!) on the Fund-A-Need bid sheet. Your contribution is tax-deductible, will go directly towards funding these wish list items and will be added to your invoice at checkout. Unable to make the event this year? You can still contribute to these important efforts. Please email [email protected] with your pledge – marked Fund-A-Need or WonderWork – and place a check for any amount in the envelope in the Development mailbox at school. Little Wonders thanks you in advance for your support, which is 100% Tax Deductible 800 Lakeshore Giant Tree House, Family Pieces and Furniture Set Cost: $300 Not just your ordinary doll house! The tree house is packed with delightful details that turn every day into an outdoor adventure! Funding this item would mean we recommit to composting and help our children learn how to be better citizens of our planet. 802 Simple SLR Digital Camera Cost: $500 Help us capture those frequent special moments of our children dressed up in costumes or enjoying each other’s company in cooperative play. This camera could be used to take candid photos in classes, as well at all events, and will allow us to store the photos in one place. To deter theft it would be kept in a locked safe. 803 Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks for Treasurer’s Computer Cost: $250 Help us simplify the book keeping at Little Wonders with this Microsoft software for the treasurer’s computer. 804 WONDERWORK FUND: SCHOLARSHIPS & SUPPORT FOR LITTLE WONDERS FAMILIES Each year Little Wonders’ WonderWork Fund offers tuition assistance to families in need and also provides outreach support for our parents experiencing medical and family hardships. With your help we can enable more wonderful families to participate in the Little Wonders experience and continue to offer much-needed support that makes Little Wonders such a special community. Contributions to this special fund will be used to provide full and partial tuition scholarships for the coming school year, and also grants to families with significant hardships such as medical illness, family crisis, and other special needs. On behalf of all these families, we THANK YOU in advance for your compassion and generosity. 31
