IAF introduces its first squadron – Tejas
Puneet Kaul
The IAF (Indian Air Force) introduces its first light combat
air craft Tejas with two fighter planes joining the force in
Bengaluru today. The state run hal handed over the first
two tejas air craft to IAF which makes the first squadron
which aree named as the “ flying daggers” at a ceremony preceded by the inter – faith prayers at the ASTE
(Aircraft System Testing Establishment).
The commanding officer group captain Madhav
Rngachari perfomed a sortie by flying the Tejas aircraft
during the introduction ceremony and was attended by
Air Marshal Jasbir Wallia , Air officer commanding – in
chief, southern air commandent and senoior HAL executives.
The commissioning of Indian – made fighter planes
comes more than three decades after LCA went into
development. The air craft was named as Tejas (meaning radiance in Sanskrit) by Atal bihari Vajpayee as prime
minister. The squadron will be based in Bengaluru for
the firstb two years befpre it’s moved to sulur in Tamil
Nadu .
Air chief Marshal Arup Raha who took his maiden flight
in Tejas on May 17 had given his thums up for the air
craft terming it good for the introduction. The IAF plans
to induct its six air craft in this financial year and about
eight in next financial year and has said tejas will feature
its combact plnes next year and wwould be deployed in
forward bases also.
Defence minister Manohar parrikar has earlier said “next
year I think two MiG 21 are being disscommissioned .
This will go initially replacing them” .
Congress is an orphan without the Gandhis’
At a 1999 General
Election
campaign,
Priyanka Gandhi in an
interview with the BBC
had said: “I am very clear
in my mind. Politics is not
a strong pull, the people
are. And I can do things
for them without being in
politics”. Nonetheless, the
question of her joining formal politics would be
bothersome: “I have said
it a thousand times; I am
not interested in joining
politics…”
Looking at present scenario in Congress and to
save its future, Priyanka
Gandhi may have to think
on above statements. So
far, she continued to regularly visit her mother’s and
brother’s constituencies
of Rae Bareilly and
Amethi
respectively,
where she dealt with the
people directly. She is a
popular figure in both the
constituencies, drawing
large crowds everywhere.
A popular slogan in
Amethi in every election
has been ‘Amethi ka
danka, bitiya Priyanka’
(the clarion call from
Amethi is for Priyanka).
She has command over
the local language. She
knows how to hold crowd
and also very matured in
her approach towards
them. She is liked by
many, more than their
leaders in the constituencies. In the General
Election 2004, she was
her mother’s campaign
manager and helped
supervise her brother
Rahul Gandhi’s campaign.
In the Uttar Pradesh
assembly elections, 2007,
while Rahul Gandhi managed the statewide campaign, she focused on the
ten seats in the Amethi
and Rae Bareilly, spending two weeks there trying
to quell considerable
infighting within the party
workers over seat allocations. On the whole, the
Congress party was routed in the state, managing
22 seats out of 402, and
its lowest tally in decades.
However, what is widely
seen as a cachet for
Priyanka Gandhi’s quiet
organizational and votedrawing
ability,
the
Congress which had only
two area seats (out of ten)
in the 2002 assembly, now
managed to wrest seven,
while posting significant
gains in all the seats, and
this despite initial dissidence within the party.
Poetry slam feat louw & ikenna onyegbula
Vivek Sharma
New Delhi: Delhi Poetry Slam held an
International Poetry Slam at The Coffee
Shop Saket where teenage poets from
around India performed spoken word
poetry alongside internationally renowned
champions Ikenna Onyegbula and Kyle
Louw.
Ikenna Onyegbula is the 2014 World
Poetry Slam Champion and 4 Time
Canadian
National
Poetry
Slam
Champion. Kyle Louw is a spoken word
poet from Capetown, South Africa with
numerous accolades. Young rising poets
from India who performed include
Sanjana Sheth from Ahmedabad, Ankush
Nagpal from Jaipur & Vinatoli Yeptho from
Nagaland among 32 others.
In their poetry, expressions ranged from
subject of young love, heartbreak, social
taboos and body image. “Your hip size is
40 and your friend is 28? Don’t worry,
you’re beautiful” said Vinnie Nanda, who
wants to change perceptions about beauty in our society. “The bloodshed on the
borders of the two young infant nations
isn’t justified by the carefully printed pictures in our Social Studies textbooks” performed Anushka Bidani, a 15 year old on
the emotional loss caused by the
Partition.
The show was conducted by Delhi Poetry
Slam, an organization that provides the
biggest platform for stage poets in India.
The event was sold out and attended by
over 100 people. The cafe owner, Gyurme
Tenzing was so moved by the emotions of
the performing poets that he took to the
stage to perform about his empathy
towards the Tibetan people and the land
that has been invaded by Chinese army.
The show ended with applause, hugs and
incredible energy as fans came to speak
to the international poetry superstars
along with thanking the young poets for
their beautiful words.
Currently, Delhi Poetry Slam is accepting
applications from high school students for
a 4 days Spoken Word and Writing
Retreat on the outskirts of New Delhi at
the end of July. The retreat will focus on
building poetry techniques, performance
skills and boosting their confidence. The
expected number of participants for the
retreat are 50. The retreat will be led by
several international visiting poets.
Has Ir fan Khan become a religious Madaari?
[email protected]
Actor Irrfan Khan gave bold observations on Ramzan and Muharram. He questioned
whether the essence of fasting during Ramzan and sacrifice had been lost. He
believes that the Muslims have made Tamasha (scene) of the rituals. He was very
vocal in explaining that the Qurbani means sacrificing something close to your heart
and sharing with others. Today, you buy a goat from the market for sacrifice. It is
something to think about, it is a matter of common sense, we all should ask ourselves
how sacrificing another life earns us any goodwill, not only that but Mr. Khan stressed
that it is important to “understand the meaning of rituals and festivals” or they can be
misused . He thinks his community has made a mockery of Muharram. It is meant for
mourning and they take out processions.
He also criticised Muslim leaders for not speaking up on terrorism.
The controversy angered many Muslim leaders; they came in defending the rituals
and warned him to refrain from spreading half knowledge on the Internet.
Meanwhile, if we go in depth, it’s not only Muslims but even Hindus and other faiths
also believe in the concept of sacrifice, which according to me is also really meaningless. Killing an innocent animal in the name of God cannot be holy event and I’m no
god wants lacerates of its own creation by another invention.
Muslims from all over the world anticipate the annual three-day celebration of a historical event that took place thousands of years ago during the time of Prophet
Abraham.
This occasion, known as Eid-ul-Adha or the Festival of Sacrifice, is a representation
of two significant Islamic events: the culmination of the Hajj (or pilgrimage to the holy
city of Makkah, Saudi Arabia), and the sacrifice that God (Allah) commanded to
Prophet Abraham of his beloved son, Ismail.
Eid-ul-Adha is observed on the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic lunar
calendar. While Muslims all around the world celebrate this day, it has particular significance for the pilgrims performing the Hajj.
In order to understand the context of Eid-ul-Adha, one must describe the Hajj with
which it is associated. Allah had made the Hajj mandatory upon mankind initially during the time of Prophet Abraham: “And make a proclamation of Hajj to mankind; they
will come to you on foot and on lean camels from every distant quarter.” (Quran: Ch
22, v27). Over time, however, the spread of idolatry across Arabia caused the rituals
of hajj to become extremely distorted. With the advent of Islam and Prophet
Muhammad, Allah had reinstated Hajj as the fifth pillar of Islam, and described the correct manner in which it was to be performed.

structured online survey.
Various aspects of international trade relating to
streamlining border clearance procedures, ensuring
access to physical infrastructure and quality of logistics
services are assessed.
Poverty, illiteracy and early deaths await
world’s most disadvantaged children: UNICEF
spl. correspondent
Delhi: Based on current
trends, 69 million children
under five will die from
mostly preventable causes, 167 million children will
live in poverty, and 750 million women will have been
married as children by
2030, the target date for
the
Sustainable
Development Goals –
unless the world focuses
more on the plight of its
most disadvantaged children, according to a
UNICEF report released
today.
The State of the World’s
Children, UNICEF’s annual
flagship report, paints a
stark picture of what is in
store for the world’s poorest children if governments, donors, businesses
and international organizations do not accelerate
efforts to address their
needs.
“Denying hundreds of millions of children a fair
chance in life does more
than threaten their futures
– by fueling intergenerational cycles of disadvantage, it imperils the future
of their societies,” said
UNICEF
Executive
Director Anthony Lake.
“We have a choice: Invest
in these children now or
allow our world to become
still more unequal and
divided.” The report notes
that significant progress
has been made in saving
children’s lives, getting
children into school and lifting people out of poverty.

Man kills 5, injures more than 20, in cafe shooting Dhaka Siege: 20 foreigners killed, hostage crisis ends
A man shot dead five people, including his wife, and
injured 20 others in a cafe in northern Serbia, police said.
The man “entered the cafe and opened fire with an automatic rifle, killing his wife and another woman, then he
continued to shoot at other citizens in the cafe,” a police
statement said.
The incident happened at about 1:40 am (local time) in
the town of Zitiste, around 80 kilometres north of
Belgrade.
Police arrested the man, born in 1978 and named only
by his initials Z.S., and opened a probe into the shooting.
Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic visited the scene
and was quoted by N1 television channel as saying that
the weapon was illegal and jealousy was believed to be
the motive.
Bomb shrapnel kills woman, wounds 3 kids: Bahrain police
Armed militants killed 20
civilians after taking them
hostage in a Bangladesh
cafe overnight and many of
the victims were hacked to
death,
an
Army
spokesman said.
“We’ve recovered 20 bodies. Most them had been
brutally hacked to death
with sharp weapons,” Army
spokesman
BrigadierGeneral Nayeem Ashfaq
Chowdhury told reporters,
without giving the nationality of the victims.
The
country’s
worst
hostage crisis ended on
Saturday when heavilyarmed
commandos
stormed the popular Dhaka
eatery in the diplomatic
enclave and killed militants
who had been holding
many people, including foreigners, captive for over 12
hours.
Gunshots and sounds of
explosion rocked the area
at 7.40 a.m. local time as
security forces launched
an offensive to end the
siege at the Holey Artisan
Bakery in Dhaka’s Gulshan
diplomatic zone.
Tuhin Mohammad Masud,
a commander of the elite
Rapid Action Battalion
(RAB) which stormed the
cafe, said there had been a
number of casualties,
including six hostage-takers.
“We have gunned down six
of the terrorists,” Mr.
Masud told reporters.
A total of 18 people were
rescued from the restaurant, a senior police official
said. Among the rescued
are Indian, Sri Lankan and
Japanese nationals. Some
of them are injured, said
Mohammad Jashim, a
deputy commissioner of
Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
An RAB official said at
least five bodies were
recovered during the raid,
but did not confirm whether
they were of hostages or
gunmen.
The hostage crisis followed
a Friday night gun-battle
with police that left at least
two senior officers dead
and 40 people injured.
Fire-fighters rushed to the
scene after the raid this
morning with extinguishers, probably to put out
flames from explosions. A
medical team also rushed
to the scene with stretchers. According to unconfirmed reports, at least one
foreigner has been shot
during the raid inside the
cafe.
Army men in armoured
personnel carriers (APCs)
had moved in with commandos.
True Islamic ideals’: Muslim group break Ramadan fast with Irish LGBT community
A woman was killed and
three children wounded
when their car was hit by
shrapnel from a bomb in a
restive Shiite-majority district outside the Bahraini
capital Manama, police
said.
The evening blast struck in
the village of East Akar
yesterday, one of a string
of suburbs of the capital
that have seen persistent
unrest since the Gulf
state’s Sunni minority
rulers crushed Shiite-led
protests for a constitutional monarchy and an elected prime minister in 2011.
Most of the disturbances
have involved demonstrators throwing petrol bombs
at police, who have
deployed heavily in Shiite
areas as authorities have
carried out an intensifying
crackdown on the majority
community’s leaders. A
police statement carried
by the official BNA news
agency gave no other
details of the explosion.
A court’s decision last this
month to strip the kingdom’s Shiite spiritual
leader, Sheikh Isa Qassim,
of his citizenship sparked
protests in his home village outside Manama.
The authorities’ crackdown
has drawn criticism from
key ally Washington,
which has called repeatedly for reform and reconciliation with the Shiite-led
opposition.
A Muslim group aimed at fostering
peace and integration in Ireland has
joined members of the country’s LGBT
community to break fast during
Ramadan, it was reported . In an effort
to display “true Islamic ideals”, the Irish
Muslim Peace & Integration Council
invited a whole host of people from outside the faith to share in the spirit of the
holy holiday.
Fasting is observed from dawn to sunset
during Ramadan to display self-restraint
and is one of the five pillars of Islam.
During the day, participants in the holy
event must refrain from eating, drinking,
smoking, sex, and other pleasures until
nightfall. “As more than one billion
Muslims worldwide celebrate Ramadan
by fasting and appreciating the blessings given to us it is equally important for
the Irish Muslim community to reach out
to our neighbours as an example of true
Islamic ideals,” said Shaykh Umar Al-
Bangladesh blames homegrown terrorists, ISI for Dhaka terror attack
Bangladesh
blamed
“homegrown” terrorists and
Pakistan’s spy agency ISI
for the country’s worst terror attack in which 20
hostages were hacked to
death, ruling out the role of
the Islamic State, as the
shocked nation began
observing two days of
national mourning. “Let me
clear it again, there are no
ISIS or al-Qaeda presence
or
existence
in
Bangladesh…the hostagetakers were all homegrown terrorists not members of ISIS or any other
international Islamist outfits,” said Home Minister
Asaduzzaman Khan.
Qadri, imam and chairman of the council.
The shared Iftar dinner, the meal when
the fast is ended, took place in Dublin
and was also attended by Jewish holocaust survivor and guest speaker Tomi
Reichental. Al-Qadri has been an outspoken supporter of the LGBT community in Ireland, likening discrimination
against gay and transgender people to
that experienced by Muslims.
“We know them (hostagetakers) along with their
ancestors, they all grew
here in Bangladesh…they
belong to homegrown outfits like JMB (Jamaatul
Mujahideen Bangladesh),”
he said.
Islamic State has claimed
responsibility for the killing
of the hostages, mostly foreigners, and two police
officers during an 11-hour
siege that ended yesterday
after the army stormed the
Holey Artisan Bakery popular with expats in the
diplomatic zone here,
killing six attackers and
capturing one alive.

Scouts, Guides delegation meets Dr. Jitendra Singh
Delhi: A delegation of Scouts/Guides Organisation of
India, led by its National Commissioner, Shri Raj K. P.
Sinha, today met Union Minister of State (Independent
Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region
(DoNER), Minister of State (Independent Charge) for
Youth Affairs and Sports, MoS PMO, Personnel, Public
Grievances and Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr.
Jitendra Singh and discussed a wide range of issues
related to their working and the future programmes.
They updated Dr. Jitendra Singh about the popular
“Service Camp” recently organised by them at Ujjain during the Kumbh Mela. At the Camp, they provided coordination and Help-desk services. They also helped in managing the communication link among different members
of the family and groups who had come for the occasion
in very large numbers.
Shri Sinha also gave a resume of the initiative taken by
the organisation for developing “Ham” radio service as
part of disaster management. Since telephone and other
communication lines get disrupted during a disaster situation, “Ham” radio could serve as a useful means under
such circumstances, he said.
Giving a resume of their activities, the members of delegation informed the Minister that they have over 12 lakh
members spread all over the country, who are actively
working in at least 16 States of India.
The delegation also handed over a memorandum to Dr.
Jitendra Singh wherein they highlighted some of their
main concerns, particularly relating to their demand for
higher acknowledgement, recognition and facility to work
more effectively.

Had fun filming ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’: Lisa Haydon
Mumbai: Actress Lisa Haydon
says she had great fun while
shooting for her role in Karan
Johar’s upcoming directorial venture “Ae Dil Hai
Mushkil”.
The “Queen” star features in a small role in
the film which stars
Ranbir
Kapoor,
Anushka
Sharma
and Aishwarya Rai
Bachchan.
“I don’t know how
much
I
am
allowed to say, but
that was the most
fun I’ve ever had
with a character.
We have ten more
days left at the end
of July to finish up
shooting. It was a
really
fantastic
experience,” said
Lisa.
“Ae Dil Hai Mushkil”
is a romantic-drama
which also stars
Fawad Khan. The film is scheduled to release this Diwali.
When asked if she will be
sharing screen space with
Ranbir, the 30-year-old
actress said, “We have
scenes together… I have
got a small but a very
interesting role. I got a
great kick playing that
character. I hope
people will enjoy it
too.”
Lisa will soon be
seen as a judge
on the second
season of MTV’s
“India’s Next Top
Model”.
Parineeti Chopra and Sushant Rajput to be seen again on screen?
Mumbai: Looks like Parineeti Chopra and Sushant
Singh Rajput’s sizzling 2013 chemistry is all set to once
again set our screens on fire.
Reportedly, the ‘Sudh Desi Romance’ pair will be back on
screen with director Homi Adajania’s next.
According to sources, “So far, Pari has only ‘Meri Pyari
Bindoo’ with Ayushmann Khurrana in hand. But she is in
talks for at least three more projects, one of which is
Homi Adajania’s next with Irrfan and Sushant. The film is
a romantic drama about a rockstar (Irrfan) and his protégé (Sushant). Parineeti plays SSR’s love interest and
inspiration. The film is expected to roll this year.”
and “Mission: Impossible
II”. The actress, in a new
interview with W magazine, recalled how the
director asked her to do
inappropriate things during
an audition. “I thought,
‘OK, this is a little weird’,
but there was a female
casting director in the room
and I’d done weird stuff

Sunidhi Chauhan set for acting debut
Mumbai: Singer Sunidhi Chauhan is
making her acting debut with a short film,
“Playing Priya”, which has been helmed
by “Lekar Hum Deewana Dil” director Arif
Ali.
“Playing Priya” is a fantasy thriller based
in an urban landscape, which will be
released on the digital platform soon.
The 32-year-old “Sheila ki Jawani” hitmaker shared her excitement about
her new stint.
“I always wanted to act but
never thought that I would
enjoy it so much. The
whole experience was
just awesome,” Sunidhi
said in a statement.
“Sunidhi has a thing for
thrillers, dark films and
twisted characters. So
when I narrated this idea
to her, she loved it and
agreed to act in it,” said Ali.
The film is being backed by digital
content studio, Humaramovie.
I was sexually abused as a young actress: Thandie Newton
Actress Thandie Newton
has put the spotlight on
sexual abuse in Hollywood
saying she was a victim of
a shocking situation when
a movie director took
advantage of her.
The 43-year-old actress
has made a name for herself over the years in
movies such as “Crash”
7th Jagran Film Festival inaugural
at the hands of Naseeruddin Shah
before so I did it.”
Despite her concerns
about
the
situation,
Newton put it behind her
and moved on with her life.
But as she attended a film
festival years later, she met
a producer who had over
indulged in alcohol, who
told her: “Oh, Thandie, I’ve
seen you recently!”.
“And he lurched away looking really shocked that he’d
said that,” she said.
When Newton’s husband
Ol Parker asked the man to
explain what he meant, the
producer said that “the
director was showing that
audition tape to his friends
after poker games at his
house.” The actress has
decided to speak out about
the incident in the hope of
making
other
young
actresses understand that
sort of situation is unacceptable. “I was so so
naive when I started out
and I realise now that we
have to prepare our kids –
I’ve got two beautiful
daughters, one is 16 one is
11.“One person will read
this and it will stop them
getting sexually abused by
a director.

Fighter jet Tejas' induction into IAF is a milestone
Pramersh Jain
The Indian Air Force (IAF) finally inducted
Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) ‘Tejas’ Mk I —
the first two Aeronautical Development
Agency (ADA) designed, Hindustan
Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) manufactured,
multirole, single-engine, tail-less delta —
into No. 45 Squadron, the ‘Flying
Daggers’, on Friday. IAF personnel have
been working closely with ADA and HAL
for a few years trying to hasten the LCA
induction. The Squadron will operate at
Bengaluru for the initial two years at IAF’s
Aircraft & Systems Testing Establishment
(ASTE) which is located close to HAL.
This is traditionally done to resolve many
teething technical and logistical problems
that need to be addressed in the initial two
years. Subsequently, the Squadron will
move to Sulur, near Coimbatore in Tamil
Nadu, where infrastructure has already
been built.
It's been almost every Air Chief's favourite
whipping boy - an Indian-built fighter jet
delayed so inordinately that it came to be
seen as a promise that would never be
kept.
But three decades after the Tejas Light
Combat Aircraft went into development,
there is a grudging acceptance that the
fighter which has been officially inducted
into the Air Force in Bengaluru is in many
ways, world-class. Speaking to media persons, Air Commodore Rohit Verma, a former IAF fighter pilot who went on to head
the National Flight Test Centre says, "I
was one of the biggest critics of this programme...but after I came back from my
first flight, I was a total convert. This aircraft flies as well if not better than the
Mirage 2000."
While the delay in delivery cannot be justified, there have been fierce debates on
why that happened. State-run Hindustan
Aeronautics or HAL, which is the lead
player in the Tejas project, says the Air
Force kept shifting the goal post on what
exactly it wanted from the jet.
Tejas is equipped with a modern Israeli
multi-mode radar, state of the art Derby air
to air missiles and targeting pods to hit
ground targets. More than 3000 sorties of
the Tejas fighter have been flown to date
Confronted by these facts, critics of the jet
say the Tejas is not indigenous at all.
India not in NSG room..........................................................
Stating that Indian officials were not present inside the Nuclear
Suppliers Group meeting in Seoul, Minister of State for
External Affairs Gen (Retd) V.K. Singh set off a new controversy over India’s bid that failed to be decided by the NSG in
June. “NSG meetings are held in a closed-door discussion. No
one knows what is happening inside the room. So everything
else is speculation. Who said what to whom…What you are
here hearing is without basis.
The truth is only known to those who are inside the room. We
don’t know,” Mr. Singh told reporters on the sidelines of a function in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh. The statement was at considerable variance from the Ministry of External Affairs’s statements
in the past week, which had detailed the discussions inside the
NSG plenary session, and blamed “one country”, indicating
China, for “persistently raising” procedural hurdles that
derailed India’s hopes for a membership during the session.
Speaking to journalists on Friday, MEA spokesperson Vikas
Swarup had repeated the charge, adding that, on the basis of
bilateral conversations with all 48 members of the NSG “I can
say with complete certainty that at the end of the day there was
only one country which raised procedural hurdles as a result of
which the NSG could not arrive at a decision in favor of India.”
Clerics don’t scare me: Irrfan
on animal killing controversy
Mumbai: Irrfan’s remark
questioning sacrifice of
animals during Eid-uzZoha has invited sharp
reaction from Muslim clerics, who have asked the
actor to focus on his work,
but the star says he is not
scared of them as he does
not live in a country governed by religious contractors.
“Please Bhaiyon, who are
upset with my statement,
either you are not ready to
introspect or you are in a
hurry to reach to a conclusion,” Irrfan tweeted.
Uniform Civil Code wil bring end to women’ suffering: Shiv Sena
Mumbai: The Shiv Sena
on Saturday backed the
Centre’s move to ask the
Law Commission to examine the implications of
implementing the Uniform
Civil Code across the
country, saying that it
would bring an end to the
sufferings of women, particularly those belonging to
the Muslim community.
“Uniform Civil Code should
have been implemented in
our country long time ago.
This should be implemented as early as possible
because it is the Muslim
women who are suffering
because of the ‘triple talaq’
and particularly because of
the unreasonable things in
the Muslim Personal Law,”
Shiv Sena leader Manisha
Kayande said.
“So, I think there should be
a Uniform Civil Code all
over the country so that the
women will stop suffering,”
she added.
The Union Law Ministry
has asked the Law
Commission to examine in
detail all issues pertaining
to the Uniform Civil Code
and submit a report to the
government.
Confirming the news,

MBD Group to Organize ‘MBD Run for Education’
Delhi: To raise awareness
about the cause of
“Education for All”
MBD Group, the leading
education company in
India is all set to kick start
Group’s Founder’s Day
celebration by organizing
“MBD Run for Education
presents Mirchi Neon
Run’” on 3rd July in
Jalandhar. MBD Group has
been working for six
decades now and has
always supported the
cause of providing education to all with its mission
“for every literate person
there should be an MBD
book”.
Every year on 10th July,
MBD Group celebrates
Founder’s Day to mark the
birth anniversary of Mr.
Ashok Kumar Malhotra,
founder of MBD Group. Mr.
Malhotra always believed
Sadananda Gowda said
that repeatedly received
questions about this in the
Parliament,
following
which he has asked the
Law Commission to give
him a report in this regard.
The code, if implemented,
would mean a set of common civil laws for all citizens in place of multitude
of personal laws for different religious groups.
Under
the
Directive
Principles of the State
Policy in the Constitution,
Article 44 says: “The State
in being a responsible citizen and hence a lot of his
initiatives in business and
his personal life were
aimed at the betterment of
the society. The run is a
testimony to human fortitude and endurance, which
were the core values of Mr.
Malhotra.
MBD Run for Education
will be flagged off from
MBD
Neopolis
Mall,
Jalandhar (owned and
managed by The MBD
Group)
by
Punjab’s
Honorable
Education
Minister Dr. Daljit Singh
Cheema. Many dignitaries
from Punjab, Haryana as
well as Delhi will also present at this grand event.
This will be a run where
individuals, wearing neon
accessories and body
paint, will run to cover a
distance of 4.5km at night.
shall endeavour to secure
for the citizens a Uniform
Civil Code throughout the
territory of India.”
The Uniform Civil Code
has been a controversial
issue and it was the part of
BJP’s poll manifesto.
This move by the Centre
assumes significance as
the Supreme Court had
recently said it would prefer to have a wider debate,
in public as well as in court,
before taking a decision on
the constitutional validity of
‘triple talaq’.
