The Papel Audience :
The First Time I saw Him
The Signis Congress participants went yesterday morning for the papal audience. It
was an early trip. Starting at 7.00 in the
morning for those who were in Domus
Maria. In total 5 busses brought the visitors to the Saint Peters square. One of the
Vjs Sambath Vann from Cambodja had
his camera with him. It was the second
time he went to the square this week. This
time he had high hopes that he would get
a glimpse of the Pope and even have the
possibility to make a nice picture of him.
Would he succeed in it? Or would he go
home with pictures of the Swiss guards,
the collones of Bernini, his comorades, the
other participants of the Congress, or even
the anonymous crowd?
The SIGNIS Radio, Video and Photo Competitions 2013 were seeking to mobilize media practitioners, educators, religious communities
and young people all over the world to express their vision of a Culture of Peace through radio production, video-making or photography. www.facebook.com/signiscompetitions
Was it worth to come to this second Papal
audience? It had been a real expedition,
with a lot of patience and harship. That
morning was rather cold for Sambath.
Some said it would even be rainy. Luckly
for Sambath it went OK... he observed
in detail the audience and became even
enthousiastic of the event. The pope
came twice in alongside the SIGNIS group.
Although the situation made him quiet
emotional, he had now the opportunity
and started making pictures. Three hours
later that day, in Domus Pacis before his
computer he looked to the images.. He
finally saw him for the first time so close,
more than real, not thinking anymore at
his zoom lens.
SIGNIS Future Search
«Encounter, Inspire and Renew for a Culture of Peace
Reshaping SIGNIS»
27th February – 1st March 2014
In our rapidly shifting media landscape the members of SIGNIS, spread over 100
countries, need to constantly re-discover their focus and common ground as an
International Association.
In 2011 SIGNIS passed a benchmark,
ten years since the merger of Unda
and OCIC in November 2001. By 2013
we would have completed two cycles
of planning together, cycles that were
initiated in 2008. The SIGNIS World
Congress 2014 in Rome, Italy is the
opportune moment to take stock.
Asses our shared past and co-create
our common future. Entitled “Encounter, Inspire and Renew for a Culture of
Peace – Reshaping SIGNIS”, the SIGNIS
Future Search (27 February – 1 March
2014) will gather the elected delegates of SIGNIS and members of staff along with
key stakeholders and partners who invested time, energy and resources in SIGNIS
to co-create the future of SIGNIS.
A Future Search is a large scale strategic planning intervention with a difference: it
does not depend on an external “expert”. The experts are the participants and the
conference will explore their past, present, future, common ground, and create a
shared agenda for action. This shared process provides a proven way to release
creative energy leading to concrete actions that experience has shown can transform organizations and communities.

SIGNIS World Congress 2014 - Rome
aliados, benefactores y colaboradores clave
