Bodywork Condition
•
•
•
The car is well-known to the Club and is in concourse condition. All parts of the
carare cleaned and polished including inside the door shuts, wheel arches. The
underside of the car is immaculate and is regularly sealed and wax oiled to
prevent rust.
There is no visible rust in the car other than a small bit of rust to the rear
bumper chrome trim and can be easily cured. This does not detract from the
overall superb condition of this car. There are a few minor small dents to the
roof which can be removed by an expert. The current custodian takes great care
to keep and maintain the car in this showroom condition. In my opinion is in
superb condition and is a credit to the owner.
The car is garaged and is not driven in the wet, hence the reason why the car is
in such good condition. The car has just passed its MOT with no advisories.
Trim, Wheels and
Suspension
•
The car is colour-coded as part of the ~v1635Csispecification and all
trim pieces are in as-new condition. This includes the pieces around
the side windows which are: very easilv damaged when front wings
are replaced. The car sports a full tool kit and first aid kit which are in
as-new condition.
•
The original wheels are in first class condition with the TRX Metric
tyres which are extremely expensive to replace. .Ihev are now
retailing at £460 per tyre and are only available from Vintage Tyres.
•
A new braking has been installed plus pads and discs. All rubber
mounts have been renewed, as has the suspension and new springs
and dampers. All these additions to the suspension have significantly
improved the road holding and drive of this car.

Engine and Mechanical
•
The car is very low mileage and has paperwork and full service
history from new. The engine has been rebuilt by a very well known
BM'W specialist with alillvalves and tirrring sensors renewed together
with a new timing chain and a new clutch and starter motor plus a
new radiator.
•
The car starts first turn of the key and idles smoothly. The sports
manual gearbox goes through all gears as it should quickly and
smoothly. There is no evidence of smoke, overheating or valve
wear. The car drives as it should with 87,295 miles on the clock .
•'
The engine bay j,s,spotless and has bee't:1well looked after. There' are
no visible oil leaks on the engine, gearbox or diff. The car has a
Limited Slip Differential, which significantly improves the way the
car behaves.
Interior
•
The pearl beige leather sports
seats look like they are new
and are in perfect condition. All
controls and switches work as
they should including the
temperamental window
switches.
•
The car still has its original
Blaupunkt head unit and has
uprated speakers fitted.
•
The interior is in fantastic
condition and is a credit to its
owner.
Other Information
•
•
•
•
The car was sourced by the current Custodian 13 years ago from the
original owner who had owned the car from new, other than two weeks
that the supplying dealer, Sytners, had used the car in their showroom
as a show car.
When the current custodian purchased the car in July 1999, the mileage
was 53,000 miles exactly.
Having spoken to the owner, he informs me he has full documentation
of the car with a spreadsheet showing all items purchased and all MOTs
from new. The car is totally original, with exception of a stainless steel
exhaust and uprated speakers.
The car was built in September 1985 but was not registered until March
1987. I believe Sytners had the car for showroom purposes hence the
reason the car was not sold for 1& months from the build date of
September 1985.
Summary
•
Overall the car is in first class condition and would be difficult to
replace, especially with its provenance. The car is number 278 of
524 cars built.
•
Normally, a good condition M6 would be in the region of £15,000 £18,000, but this car is concourse quality. Thus the value is much
higher. I have seen cars recently sell with lower mileages, but worse
condition for more than £17,000. I would suggest a value range for
this car of f19,OOn - £20',0'00 and would suggest an insurance
valuation of £20',0'00. The difficulty in valuing this car is finding a
replacement if the worst was to happen.
•
Finding another could take some time and I doubt it would be in
this concourse condition. My valuation reflects the fact that values
are rising and sourcing a similar car of this standard could take
years.
.
•
Currently, Munich Legends, Classic Heroes and 4 Star Classics have.
M635Csis for sale, but in my opinion, these cars are not of the same
standard.
