$10 million project
Sewer system could become
a reality by next August
By ELEANOR SEAMAN
WHITE LAKE — Construction of a $10 million
sewer project may begin a s e a r l y a s next August if plans
go according to schedule for two cities andtwo townships
which lie along the shores of White Lake 0
The proposed sewer system would s e r v i c e in the
City of Montague, the City of Whitehall, Montague Township and portions of Fruitland Township,
If a sewer collection system was in fact started
next y e a r , hookup to the Muskegon County Wastewater
System could come by sometime in 1978.
The only governmental unit within the plan of
study a r e a ^see accompanying map) that has an e x i s t ing collection system is the City of Whitehall, Improvements to their system would run concurrently
with the r e s t of the a r e a .
The estimated project cost for the City of Montague
is $5,303,200 o r 54 percent of the total p r o j e c t . F r u i t land's costs would be $2,900,000, Montague Township's
$1,300,000 a r d Whitehall's, $300,000.
A t^tal of $625 million in federal funds is available
to the State of Michigan to clean up its w a t e r s . Completion of the 201 facilities plan makes these units of
government eligible for 80 p e r cent state and federal
funding of the p r o j e c t .
A good, representative group of interested Montague residents attended that city's information meeting
held last week regarding the proposed sewer p r o j e c t .
The audience has many questions to a s k . On hand
to answer them were Mike Fuller and Charles Hook,
both of Moore & Briggink, Inc., consultants for both the
City of Montague and Montague Township, Robert L .
Zettell, PE, Director of Public Works for Muskegon
County, Mayor B. Wayne Gillan, John F i l e r s , City
Superintendent and members of the city council.
Fuller started off the meeting by explaining the
preliminary facility plan 201 for wastewater collection
and t r e a t m e n t , compiled by Williams and Works.
Quoting directly f r o m the plan. Fuller said **The
most serious problem in the study a r e a is In the City of
Montague. In the downtown section of the city, over
50 per cent of the sanitary sewage is discharged directly
to White Lake via the White River and Buttermilk C r e e k .
"Many lots a r c so small that there Is not enough
room to construct an adequate drain field.
••The Improperly operating septic systems in the
study a r e a a r e not only a source of pollution but a l s o a
potential health hazard. T h e r e Is no public water system
In many of the a r e a s , and t h e r e Is always a danger that
the septic tanks will contaminate nearby wells. Adequate
wastewater disposal cannot be provided for these a r e a s
without installing some type of wastewater collection
facilities.
••There a r e two a l t e r n a t i v e s , " said F u l l e r . ••Number one would be construct a regional wastewater collection system and connecting to the wastewater facility.
•'Alternative number two would be to take noaction
whatsoever and continue the use of individual septic
tank systems which would do nothing to eliminate existing
pollution or future pollution f r o m more building in the
area.
"Without the project, a definite impact will be
felt over time on the water r e s o u r c e s of the a r e a s u r face, and ground water quality would deteriorate due to
continued discharge of partially treated o r untreated
waste f r o m septic tanks. The rate at which this d e t e r ioration occurs is geared to the residential, recreational
and commercial growth within the a r e a . The potential
health hazard to domestic water supplies will i n c r e a s e .
"Continued growth in the a r e a without adequate
sewer facilities will increase the organic and nutrient
load f r o m subsurface drainage Into nearby l a k e s . Discharge of organic and nutrient loads at increasing
levels will tend to promote algae growth, thus causing
the diversity of aquatic life to d e c r e a s e to the more
tolerant species.
"Without this project, the social and economical

climate of the a r e a will be affected since future development in the a r e a would be restricted., The desired r e sidential, recreational and commercial development
will not occur without adequate sewer f a c i l i t i e s . "
Touching on both the good and the bad. Fuller
said some s t r e a m s would have to be c r o s s e d . There will
be some disturbance of the s t r e a m bottom at these sites
during construction. The contractor will be required
to follow the regulations for s t r e a m crossings set forth
In the r u l e s and regulations concerning the Inland
Lakes and S t r e a m s Act #346.
Some of the unavoidable problems would be incidental erosion, noise and dust and some t r a f f i c disturbances.
In the plus column would be g r e a t e r recreational
potential for the a r e a by contributing to the protection
of the water r e s o u r c e s of the area and adequate treatment
for currently incompletely treated wastewater,
••What about storm d r a i n s ? " asked a man In the
audience,
"Only sanitary sewers would be constructed, no
storm d r a i n s , " was the a n s w e r . The plan s t a t e s that
the townships will be required to pass an ordinance
prohibiting all s t o r m water connections.
The question of individual hookups was brought
up and discussed at some length.
The project wold involve laying the main sewer
plus a lateral to somewhere between the edge of the
asphalt and the property line, according to Supt. F i l e r s ,
The homeowner would be responsible for getting hooked
up from the property line to the house,
Montague would hook up tothe wastewater system at
Pump Station " W " located at the old City of Whitehall
wastewater treatment plant behind Plumb's in Whitehall.
Mayor Gillan said the approximate cost per Montague homesite for construction of the system would be
about $1,500 to be paid over a 10-year a s s e s s m e n t
period. It was stated that the cost of a good septic
system would cost about that much. When the system
is in operation residents would be charged a base rate
plus a usage rate similar to the way other utilities a r e
charged f o r .
. ,
,
He said only a small corner of the industrial park
would be s e r v i c e d ,
"How about Hooker?"
••We couldnt handle the Hooker gallonage."
Residents were a s s u r e d a federal grant would have
to be okayed before construction would s t a r t .
••You'd have the money before construction s t a r t s , "
said F u l l e r .
••But, would it help to save White L a k e ? " s o m e one asked,
Supt, F i l e r s thinks it will. He drew f r o m his
first-hand knowledge of Hart Lake (he is a f o r m e r Hart
City Manager) to answer that question.
He said samples were taken a year after hookup
f r o m Hart Lake, Silver Lake and Stony Lake. It was
found that Hart Lake was s a f e r than the ether two a f t e r
one short year during which time no cannery waste
or sewage was entering the waters of Hart Lake,
Pleased with the attendance at last week's information meeting, Montague officials a r e now looking
ahead to the Sept. 29 (8 p . m j public hearing at which
time the final draft of the plan will be formally accepted
by each of the four units of government,
••It's going to cost, and it's going to h u r t , " said
Supt. F i l e r s .
But officials hastened to add that if sewers a r e
installed "people will move in to help offset your t a x e s . "
"It won't get any c h e a p e r , " said F i l e r s . "If we
had to tackle this on our own, we'd have to break down
the plans and install only a few at a time, say, in the
downtown a r e a . . . but the cost would be g r e a t e r .
" T h i s is a •go' p r o j e c t , " said F i l e r s . ••We're
'out of it, without s e w e r s . "

Montague school board opts for special millage election
September 22, 1976, Page 3
MONTAGUE - - A radical drop in student enrollment resulting in a dramatic reduction in state aid to
the district has prompted the Montague Board of Education
to authorize a special election.
This action, taken at the regular meeting on Sept,
16, will hopefully result in enough funds to offset
those lost because of the shortage of students.
Student enrollment from 1971 to 1975 dropped a total
of 33 students in the d i s t r i c t . This year enrollment
dropped 113 students.
In 1975, on the official fourth Friday a f t e r Labor
Day count day, 1,927 students were enrolled. The a d ministration modestly predicted 1,900 would be enrolled
in the fall of 1975.
Actually, only 1,814 a r e enrolled a s of this writing
or 86 less than anticipated. State aid monies for student
membership will therefore be approximately $93,000 l e s s
than was expected.
The board faces the prospect of cutting the already
radically a u s t e r e budget by another $93,000 or holding
an election to a s k the voters to r a i s e an amount to make
up the deficit.
Rejecting the chances of further cuts in the childr e n ' s educational program, the board opted for an election.
The voters will be asked to increase the tax rate
by 1.3 mills for the current year only. That rate will
r a i s e approximately $93,000 - - $50,000 locally and
$43,000 from the state. That amount is the p r e c i s e
amount of the shortage caused by the low student
count and will do nothing to relieve the austerity budget presently being used.
The. board was unanimous in their feeling that
the students deserve and require this effort and they
voted unanimously in favor of the election.
In other business at the meeting, the board heard
that the district will receive approximately $27,700from
the state to be used to pay off bond debts for buildings.
The board will therefore reduce the tax levy for this
purpose f r o m 1,9 mills to 1,156 mills, or a tax rate
reduction of almost three-fourths of a mill.
The board a l s o changed the location of two upcoming
regular board meetings; the November meeting will be
held on Thursday, Nov, 11 at the Rothbury School and
the January meeting will be held on Thursday, J a n .
20, 1977, at the Mouth School,
The board raised reduced price lunches from 15C
to 20(5 per lunch, accepted the resignation of Dr, A1
Watts, a counselor who has found work in Wisconsin,
and authorized the business manager to accept the
highest bid for a used bus that is being sold.
F u r t h e r , the board set Oct, 21 as the date for the
required budget hearing. That hearing will be held in
conjunction with the regular board meeting already
scheduled for that evening.

Johnny is reading in Montague
1974 N N A
Dear Editor:
Yes, Johnny is reading in Montague and most
Johnnys a r e doing very well. Your Johnny may not
be reading at grade level or up to our expectations,
but he is reading , , , and he is being taught through
an intensive phonics program so highly advocated by
Kathryn Diehl in her s e r i e s f r o m the Reading Reform
Foundation now appearing in the Muskegon Chronicle,
Montague has been teaching reading by the phonics
method for many y e a r s . Phonics is taught in the first
four y e a r s of school by way of the Alpha program as
well as the McGraw Hill Reading p r o g r a m . At the
kindergarten level the. children a r e introduced to the
letter people and their sounds.
Parents who have had a child in kindergarten
within the past several y e a r s , Pm s u r e , have had
their child come home with a letter greeting card
with a poem about Mr. H and his horrible h a i r , Mr.
M and his munching mouth, or Mr, B and his beautiful
buttons, etc.
By the time the child is through the f i r s t grade
he will have learned all of his l e t t e r s , sounds of the
consonants, short vowels, blends and diagraphs. He
will be able to sound out most one syllable words
and read simple stories using these sounds.
He is a l s o taught to spell and write these words
f r o m dictation. Because he had not been taught by a
"look-and-say** method, he may not be able to read
words such as come, want, was, should, etc, which
a r e phonetically i r r e g u l a r . These will be taught g r a d ually a s sight words or "runaway w o r d s " which have
run away f r o m the phonetic r u l e s .
By the end of third grade he should have at his
disposal a variety of word attack skills, including phonetic
analysis, structural analysis, context clues, dictionary
skills, etc. These will continue to be reinforced throughout his schooling, not only in reading, but through
spelling and writing as well.
But, r e m e m b e r , when Johnny t r i e s to read he
brings his whole self, background and abilities, to
the reading situation , „ , not just the sounds c - a - t
for cat. He brings his self concept, his past experience s , vocabulary, social, emotional, intellectual and physical being with him.
Yes, he sometimes brings his empty stomach,
his fight with his best friend, his parents* concern,
his insecurity etc,, and if he is reading aloud he knows
he is being judged by all around him. How he reads
is affected by these things a s well a s his phonetic
skills.
Reading is an integration of skills, nota summation
of skills. The teaching of reading involves the whole
child, each an individual with different needs and interests to be met. No one method is effective with all children, Each is unique in his learning style, interest
and needs.
If your Johnny is not reading up to your expectations and you would like to help him, please contact
your school and find out how we can combine our e f f o r t s ,

Whitehall board,
WEA settle contract
WHITEHALL — The Whitehall District Schools
Board of Education and the Whitehall Education Assn.
have tentatively settled their contract. It now must be
ratified by the board of education in formal session a s
well a s the membership of the WEA before it becomes
reality. Many school districts in the state still have
not settled contracts, 14 ofthose have called for mediation
including Whitehall; however, the Whitehall contract
was settled before mediation was necessary.
The financial package settlement included full payment of medical insurance plus a $100 increase in base
pay. Base pay of $9,350 plus insurance and retirement
will most likely end up to be one of the lowest salary
packages in the Muskegon, Newaygo and Oceana counties,
M
It demonstrates willingness on the part of the
board of education and teachers to cooperate in an
attempt to maintain a balanced budget at a time when such
cooperation is extremely n e c e s s a r y , " says Bill Page,
Superintendent of Schools, •'but a rough road is still
ahead of u s . We ended last year with a balance of a little
over $6,000, and a r e anticipating a smaller balance
next y e a r . A fund equity this size does not provide a
cushion large enough to protect against emergency s i t uations. It is imperative that next y e a r ' s funding base
be larger if we a r e going to maintain a basic p r o g r a m , "
The salary increase along with the annual step
increase ranges from $601 for a second year teacher
with a BA degree to a maximum of $784 for a teacher
with 11 y e a r ' s experience and a m a s t e r ' s degree plus
30 hours.

morning , , , h e r e ' s —
LS THIS COLUMN COUNTRY? A brand new
irregular feature of this newspaper brought to you
in the interest of giving away lots of free plugs
and will attempt to keep you up on the country music
scene both in Western Michigan with local musicians
mentioned often and from the vantage point of M-U-S,
where we have country music contacts all over the
United States including New Era,So here goes IS THIS
COLUMN COUNTRY?
Norm McFarren and the band of outlaws along
with numerous accomplices (all mentioned in the
liner notes) just recorded an album at Roger's
Recording Studio of Muskegon, I d o n t know the title
of the album, it contains ten songs with each of the
bandmembers featured. The album gets the " S J "
(Steve James seal of approval) and should be back
from the p r e s s e r s in a few weeks. The Roger's
did a dynamite job producing the album, Atthis point
I want to make three recommendations, first - - buy
a copy of the Outlaw's album, second — if you ever
want to record a song check out Roger's Recording
Studios, and third — try and catch After Midnight
on M-U-S as we intend to feature the album in the
near future and interview Dennis Rogers (the a l bums engineer extrodanaire) who should offer a
unique insight into the production of a record album.
Rumor has it that Johnny Mitchell is now singing
at the Moorland Tavern on Apple Ave, I h a v e n t
caught his act yet but I understand he's very entertaining, The Moorland Tavern's happy, John's good
for business,
Johnny's Bandstand in Custer is really bringing in some super a c t s . In the last four months
he's had Ernest Tubbs, Jim Ed Brown, Del Reeves,
and Roy Drusky for one-nighters. Coming up in October is Faron Young and in November , , , Barbara
MandrelU After all those rock and roll years Johnny's
finally went country and he's doing it up right.
On the national scene — word has it that
Freddie Hart is going to release a single that could
be as big as " E a s y Loving", as you might recall
Freddie was in Muskegon earlier this year on a show
with Bill Anderson, during the quiet moments before the show the two p e r f o r m e r s were seen sitting
on Hart's bus and Freddie sang the song to Bill,
Anderson's reaction? Very excited!
Johnny Cash is coming to Muskegon and it's
possible that Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn are
too.
More trashy, disgusting gossip has it that Norm
McFarren and the band of outlaws mightgounder the
wing of Liberty Bell Productions of Lansing, Liberty
Bell has really done a super job with West Michigan's Mike Yager, I caught Mike's act in Kalamazoo
with Johnny Rodriguez and Doug Kershaw, I was
really impressed with his new show.
Someone's always asking me what ever happened
to ex-M-U-S go-guys , , , for the record —
ftul Erickson is at WXOX Bay City/Saginaw, Mike
Hansen is program director of WSHN Fremont,
Nick Scott is Manager of KAOH Duluth/Superior,
Harry Brown went back to medical school In St,
Louis and Greg Nealson is now at WITL Lansing
doing the all-night show under the name of J r ,
Blackwood,
That's all of the garbage I have for you at
this t i m e . Til the next collection , , , I ask you
, , , IS THIS COLUMN COUNTRY?

game and also was good on offense blocking. Tom Lohman photo

MONTAGUE - - If you go back into the r e c o r d s ,
you'd find that the rivalry between Montague and Whitehall was in Montague's favor in 1972. That score was
6 - 0 , Then in *73, the Cats again pulled out a close
game, 27-26.
But then in '74 the Vikings started to move and
came up with a 14-0 score and last season they also
won, 20-6, And again last Friday night the Vikings came
up with yet another win, blanking Montague, 15-0o
The game opened with the Wildcats kicking to
the Vikings. The Vikings used a s e r i e s of plays and
after a pitch out to Steve West they were on the Montague 26.
From there QB Jeff Lighton took the ball
to the seven. From there he took the ball over for the
f i r s t s c o r e of the nighto
With the aid of a Wildcat fumble plus a penalty,
the Vikings again found themselves in good field position and kicked a field goal to move further ahead,
9-0,
As the 1st q u a r t e r ended, Montague had the ball
on the 16 and ground out to the four where they ran
out of downs.
Whitehall took over but couldnt move the ball
and was forced to kick. T h i s , coupled with two penalties and a mishandled ball, caused some confusion.
Both penalties were called against Whitehall, but
when the official told Montague of their choices he
d i d n t realize that Montague had fumbled the ball and
Whitehall had recovered it. This was straightened out
and play resumed with Montague again receiving a kick.
Montague again ground to the one-foot line only to
be stopped once more a s the half ended.
In the 3rd quarter action, Montague received the
ball only to have to punt to the Whitehall 40 where the
Vikings took o v e r . The combination of Lighton to Rob
Zylstra proved to be the needed plays for another
Viking s c o r e .
No one scored in the 4th q u a r t e r because neither
team could get inside the 15-yard line.
The leading ground gainer for the Wildcats was
Mike Beauchamp with 16 c a r r i e s for 63 y a r d s .
This week both t e a m s will be away for their
conference season openers. The Wildcats will be at
Ravenna and Whitehall at R e e t h s - P u f f e r .
Last week Ravenna beat Calvin Christian, 34-6,
and Puffer lost to Mona Shores, 27-6. In last y e a r ' s
game, the Vikings pulled out a 14-19 win over Puffer
while Montague lost to Ravenna, 14-12.

week the Vikings travel to
Reeths-Puffer to open their

combination of QB Jeff
Lighton to Zylstra proved
to be good for one touchdown last week against
Montague and could prove
to be effective again

members present, also present Russel Carson,

Mr 0 Russel Carson, area building inspector,
gave a report on his activities. He stated that his
job keeps him very busy, in fact, a problem has
developed as to how to give proper service while
he is attending out-of-town meetings. He asked the
public's patience since he does not have an a s s i s t ant. He also reported on problem spots in Montague
Township such as cleaning up refuse where buildings
had been torn down.
Clerk John Weesies reported thatthe siding job
on the hall is progressing on schedule, Weesies also
reported on the " m e s s " along the drive to and at the
man-made lake off Henderson Road. A huge pile of
beverage containers had to be picked up at considerable cost to the Township. He also stated that
this may be a dangerous place for young people to
frequent for liquor parties. The board took no final
action but closing off the drive to the lake may be
necessary unless conditions improve.
Some discussion was had on wastewater, A
preliminary report by Williams and Works had been
received for study. It is not known at this time what
use Hooker Chemical Co, intends to make of the
system when and if completed, to dispose of their
waste.
Representatives of the board plan to attend
the annual Michigan Township Assn, region eight
meeting to be held at the Muskegon Community

one quarter when the Ravenna team could only come
up with two points.

Jean Helsen away from the
board if they hope to win.
The JV girls also lost
to Scottville, 47-14.

Because of rough weather during the first part
of the week, many anglers were happy just to fish the
little lakes and get out on the big lakes whenever possible.
The fishing report from Whitehall says that many
fishermen have been trolling in the narrows of White
Lake and getting some r e s u l t s . Many have been coming
up with some good pike,
Pentwater reports that a large number of boats
were out in the big lake last Saturday but the r e s u l t s
were limited. Many were using green or black lores
and the fish were anywhere f r o m near shore to about
two miles out. The unusual thing is that the biggest
number of fish were lakers instead of salmon.
Hunters a r e again reminded of the Oct, 1 postmark deadline for filing for doe p e r m i t s .
Hunters might be interested in knowing that a
recent report from the Michigan Conservation Clubs
say that the state has called off the planned doe hunt
in the upper peninsula. Originally, two a c r e s had been
scheduled to be open but rising opposition to the plan
prompted the DNR to close the area again this season.
It may be a while before the opening of deer
season, but now's the time to be getting r e a d y . Squirrel
season opened last week and this will give you a chance
to test your shooting skills as well a s provide some
game for your table.
Be sure that a s the season approaches, whatever
season you like best, if it be deer or duck or anything
else, be prepared for the hunt. A hunter's physical
fitness definitely helps to develop the positive attitude
necessary for successful hunting.

MONTAGUE — The
Cat g i r l s basketball team
out did North Muskegon
last week in a 46-26 contest.
The s c o r e at the 1st

favor, 7-6, but in the 2nd
q u a r t e r the Wildcats came
up with 13 points to only
five for the Norse to take
the lead. In the 3rd q u a r t e r , the Wildcats really
poured it on and upped
the s c o r e to 36-17 at this
stop.
According to Wildcat
Coach Jamie Pallay, they
tried a man-to-man p r e s s
in the f i r s t q u a r t e r but this
d i d n t work, so they went
back to regular defense,
Annette Neubauer led
the Cat scoring attack with
eight points all made in

and Mary Hoos, six.

game loss, the Montague Wildcats junior varsity g i r l s
basketball team blitzed the North Muskegon Norsewomen last week, 55-14. Although the s c o r e remained
close throughout the first q u a r t e r (9-4 Montague), the
little Cats blew it wide open in period number two,
going to the locker room with a 22-9 lead.
With all Wildcat players seeing plenty of action
and all but two of them scoring, the second half was
even more of a rout than the f i r s t , A 15-4 Cat scoring
advantage in the 3rd stanza l e t the count at 37-13
going into the 4th, The last period saw the Wildcats
pop in 18 more big points while holding the Norse to a
single tally and the final margin.
Leading the way for Montague were Marylou
Czarny and Barb Guinon with nine points apiece, followed by Rhonda Carlson, Lori Kurdziel and Sandy
Goerbig with seven, six and five, respectively. The
N o r s e ' s D, Dekker countered with eight m a r k e r s for
her t e a m .
The battle of the boards went to the Wildcats
by a slim 31-29 margin. The Cats were paced by
Guinon and Robin Hinze with five r e t r i e v e s each, while
teammates Carlson and Mary Hissong each snagged
four, D, Dekker, L , Bowen and L , P e r r i led the Norse,
A tough Montague p r e s s caused 45 North Muskegon
turnovers while the Cats committed but 16, Both teams
committed 14 personal fouls with Montague cashing in
on seven of 14 attempts a s compared to a two for 13
effort by the Norse, The Wildcats hit on 24 of 85 floor

Dear Friends:
Everyone enjoys a
cheese souffle, I know.
How ma ny'of you ga Is ha ve
the courage to make one?
Many of my friends a l ways seem to enjoy the
beauty and the tempting
flavor ofthe high and puffy
ones I s e r v e frequently
- I have no s e c r e t for my
s u c c e s s , just a good r e cipe, plus a basic folding
method. For a cheese
souffle to s e r v e 3 - Make
a thick white sauce with
4 tbsp. m a r g a r i n e , 4tbsp a
flour and 1 C. milk, adding 1/4 t s p . mustard, a
dash of cayenne pepper or
Worcestershire
sauce,
and seasoning of salt and
pepper.
Stir into the
hot
white sauce 1 C , s h r e d d e d
s h a r p cheese, (I like a
combination
of
sharp
cheddar
and
swiss
cheese.)
Remove from heat,
stir in 3 egg yolks, well
beaten. Beat until stiff
3 egg whites with 1/4 t s p ,
cream of t a r t a r . Be sure
and use a large bowl for
the egg whites.
Now fold in the
cheese mixture. Pour into
a 1-1/2 qt, c a s s e r o l e ,
g r e a s e d s Set casserole in
a pan with 1 inch water.
Bake until puffed
and golden brown at 350
degrees for 50 to 60 minutes, Serve at once with
c r i s p bacon or mushroom
or s h r i m p sauce. For
variety add 1/2 C,ground
ham with the cheese; or
fold in 1 C sauted finely
cut mushrooms into the
cheese souffle at the l a s t .
Fruit salad is a p e r fect accompaniment to
the souffle along with corn
muffins.
In other words. Viva
le souffle,
Helen Corbitt gave
me the following recipe
for Quiche Lorraine and
it is really delectable.
Line an 8 " pie tin with
pastry and bake at 450
degrees for 10 minutes.
Now 4 slices of bacon
(crisp)
chopped and 4
slices onion sauted in the
bacon fat until soft a r e
sprinkled over the bottom
of the pie c r u s t . Alternate
in layers 8 paper thin
slices of ham, shredded,
and 8 paper thin slices
of Swiss cheese. Be c e r tain cheese is top l a y e r .
Beat 3 eggs with 1/4
t s p , dry mustard,add I C ,
light cream that has been
heated
and continue
beating. Pour over ham
& cheese, let stand 10
minutes. Sprinkle a tiny
bit of nutmeg on top and
bake at 350 degrees until
custard is set or when a
silver knife is inserted
in center and comes out
clean, A c r i s p lettuce
salad with your favorite
dressing is excellent with
this.
Surprise
your
family some day soon,
Edna
