Eagle Brook Church Blaine Campus Opens
Project Manager: Blair Juliar
Superintendent: Dave Weinzetl
Sheehy recently completed construction on Eagle Brook Church’s Blaine
Campus and services officially began on October 2nd. Designed by BWBR
Architects, the new campus sits on 5.5 acres and is the church’s fourth
location in addition to Lino Lakes, Spring Lake Park, and White Bear Lake.
The 39,000 square foot facility includes an 850 seat worship space, gathering
rotunda, bookstore and cafe. The whimsical children’s areas feature largerthan-life lily pads, fish, flowers and other natural elements.
The building frame is constructed of colored precast panels, natural stone
walls, and aluminum curtain wall systems. Site work included 422 parking
stalls and a variety of trees, shrubs, ornamental grasses and perennials, all
fully irrigated. Sheehy worked closely with subcontractors, BWBR, the
City of Blaine, and church personnel in order to achieve building occupancy
a week ahead of schedule.

Construction Underway at Beth El Synagogue
Project Manager: Blair Juliar
Superintendent: Chuck Ellison
Sheehy is beginning renovations at Beth El Synagogue in St. Louis Park
to modernize the building, improve accessibility, and meet future needs of
the congregation. Access to the building is being maintained while many
areas are demolished to complete site work and utility improvements. Approximately one third of the building is undergoing asbestos abatement and
remodeling while the building is in use.

The Victory Memorial Drive World War I memorial in north Minneapolis is
undergoing major renovations to preserve what is believed to be the largest
World War I memorial in the nation. Originally constructed in 1920, the
drive commemorates the 568 soldiers and nurses from Hennepin County
who lost their lives in World War I.
Sheehy is currently in the process of paving the flag plaza with granite
sourced from northern Minnesota, with the largest pieces weighing
14,000 pounds. Ten bronze plaques honoring the soldiers and nurses are
being refurbished and a new irrigation system, landscaping, lighting and
sidewalks are being installed. Forty seven new trees and expanded flower
beds will be planted and new walking path lights will improve safety.
A new 70’ flag pole is slated for installation at the end of October, ahead of
the Armistice Day dedication on November 11th. New gateway monuments
will also be installed at Humboldt Avenue North and Lowry Avenue North.

MSP Airport MUFIDS Project Nearing Completion
Project Manager: Eric Matthews
Superintendent: Dave Bombardo
Since January, Sheehy has been busy replacing the old Flight Information
Display System (FIDS) at 85 locations within the Minneapolis-St. Paul
International Airport with 350 new, larger flat screen televisions comprising
the Multi-User Flight Information Display System (MUFIDS). The
completely new system now shows travelers all flights on all airlines.
In addition, Sheehy also replaced all of the information booths, including
signage and lighting, and refurbished the Traveler’s Assistance Office. The
project was challenging as each location within the existing facility was
like a mini-project, with its own requirements and conditions. The project
will be complete this October.
Upcoming Project: RiverCentre Solar Panels
District Energy in St. Paul
began as a demonstration
project in 1983 and was
designed to be as energy
efficient as possible, be fuel
flexible, and result in stable
rates for its customers.
Project Manager: Dan Krause
Funded in part by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Sheehy
will soon be installing solar panels on the roof of the St. Paul RiverCentre.
The City of Saint Paul was one of 16 special projects selected by the U.S.
Department of Energy’s Solar America Cities Program, aimed to help
accelerate the adoption of solar energy.
144 panels, each 8’ x 20’, will generate heat for District Energy, which
currently provides heat to 185 buildings and 300 single-family homes
through one of the largest biomass-fueled systems in North America. The
project is scheduled to be complete by the end of the year.
