TOYOTA
Oddly, Lexus-badged cars were never sold in Japan until 2005,
giving weight to the (untrue) rumour that the name was an anagram
of Luxury EXports to the US. The Lexus cars were a selection of
remodelled, luxury variants from Toyota that sold in Japan under
the model names including Alteeza (IS), Celsior (LS) and Aristo
(GS). The brand is the world’s biggest producer of hybrid models,
now with eight hybrid variants on the Australian market.
