MEET DAVID NUNN
Driving a truck is hard enough with increasing
traffic, more government regulation, and the
increase in distractions for the motoring public. An integral part of the One World Logistics fleet management service, David Nunn
is a driver you can count on to be part of the
solution. Though David is assigned to operate a tow truck for break downs
or vehicle repositioning, he is always
volunteering to help out if he sees a problem that isn’t necessarily part
of his daily responsibilities.
David has been known to volunteer for some of the more physically and
mentally demanding jobs for One World Logistics. He occasionally works the
hectic tire shuttle or yard hostler in one of the busiest yards you will ever see.
He works quickly and safely providing excellent service. He recently saw
there was going to be a hole in the work schedule, so David took the
proactive approach of suggesting he serve a double role consisting of
training a new driver while also covering a critical tire shuttle position.
His assignment is one of only two people certified to operate the tow truck.
He has worked all hours of the day and night, and any day of the week.
In an email from Mr. Kip Gray, Assistant Fleet Manager at OWL, David was
praised for his attention to detail and focus on safety.
David is a definite asset to our team. His exceptional commitment
to the driver profession and to our customer, One World Logistics,
makes us proud to have him representing CPC Logistics, Inc.

Divisional Drivers Of The Month
EASTERN DIVISION
Hugo Ramirez has been selected as Driver of the Month for May 2015 for the Eastern Division. Hugo has been
assigned to Benjamin Moore and Company in Clifton, New Jersey since March 2008. His conduct, performance and
safety record all reflect his commitment to being a true professional. Hugo always performs his job with a great attitude, never saying ‘no’ to any requests made of him. Hugo is an outstanding employee and a great asset to CPC and to
Benjamin Moore.
Roy Alan Senechal has been selected as Driver of the Month for May 2015 for the Eastern Division. Roy has been
assigned to Walgreen Company in Easton, Pennsylvania since August 2011. Roy is dependable, performs at a level of
excellence, is always on time and is willing to go anywhere without question. He has trained new hires and was also
responsible for training all drivers when the PeopleNet OBC system rolled out in 2012. This is just a small example of
the outstanding job Roy does and why he is a valued member of the CPC Logistics driving team.
WESTERN DIVISION
Bret Hall has been selected as Driver of the Month for May 2015 for the Western Division. Bret has been assigned to
TruServ in Harvard, Illinois since August 2010. Bret is the true image of a professional driver. Since his employment
with CPC he remains accident-free and he has never missed a day of work. He wears his uniform with pride and projects an image of solid character and professionalism to all he comes in contact with. Greg truly reflects what a quality
individual he is and we are proud to have a driver of this caliber representing CPC Logistics.
Michael D Jones has been selected as Driver of the Month for May 2015 for the Western Division. Mike has been
assigned to Walgreen Company in Mt. Vernon, Illinois since March 2001. Mike is known by all as a dependable driver
with a positive attitude. He serves as a driver trainer and goes the extra mile to insure new drivers are capable of performing their jobs in a safe manner. He maintains a great relationship with the people in the Walgreens Transportation
Department, along with the store employees that he delivers to each day. He is a positive and courteous individual who
gives 100% everyday while supporting our customer’s needs.
CANADA DIVISION
Dale Antosh has been selected as Driver of the Month for May 2015 for the Canada Division. Dale has been assigned
to Bridgestone Canada, Inc. in Abbottsford, BC since February 2014. Dale quickly established himself as a reliable and
dedicated professional. He has assisted in the orientation and training of new drivers for Bridgestone, and he continues
to demonstrate his loyalty and leadership by recommending our company to other drivers. We are pleased to have Dale
in our group of driving professionals. He is a great example of why ‘The Best Drivers Drive Huron/CPC.”
CPC SAFETY MANAGER TIP OF THE MONTH
Comfort or Safety: Which do You Choose in Your Sleeper Berth?
Team driving has many benefits. While one driver sleeps, the other drives and the miles keep counting. However, one
consideration to this is the potential for reduced safety if you don’t follow the rules. While sleeping, you obviously do
not wear a seatbelt. And, according to many studies, most do not use restraints in their sleeper berth, meaning you’ll
Greg Boyinton probably fly out of bed in a serious crash. Now, just being in the sleeper berth doesn’t place you at greater risk. In fact,
according to studies, your location within the truck isn’t a significant factor in determining whether or not you’ll be
injured. In the likely event you do not use restraints in your sleeper, though, the risk of injury climbs greatly. According to studies, the
odds of being injured while unrestrained in the sleeper berth more than double compared to those of sleeping while restrained. Overall,
the studies found that, in team driving arrangements, the person in the sleeper berth was about three times more likely to be injured than
the driver. This is likely because, while 19 out of 20 truck drivers wear a seat belt, only 3 out of 20 wear sleeper berth restraints.
Should You Wear Restraints? Restraints have been required in sleeper berths by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
(FMCSA) since 1971, so they should be available in your truck.
According to studies, the top reason drivers don’t use sleeper berth restraints is that they encumber sleep. Naturally, as the term implies,
they restrain movement. In other words, if you like to move around a bit to get comfortable, you won’t enjoy being strapped in.
Still, it is best to use restraints while the truck is in motion. Just as they’d wear a seatbelt behind the wheel, drivers should be using
sleeper berth restraints anytime the truck is moving. They might not be comfortable, but they’ll save your life in a serious crash.”

JUNE is Men’s Health Month!
Steering to a healthier you Men die younger than women from the top causes of death. As a result,
the average woman outlives the average man by over five
years. But it doesn’t have to be this way. More than half of
these premature deaths are preventable, along with about
60 percent of chronic diseases, and most injuries and accidents. By taking charge of your own preventative care, you
can protect your health.

Men are 24% less likely to go to the doctor than women.
100,000 men live with chronic groin and testicular pain.
Half of all men will be diagnosed with cancer in their lives.

Roughly 2,000 men are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, resulting in 400 deaths.
Men on average die more than six years earlier than women.

Eat a varied diet, rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat foods.
Be especially careful to limit cholesterol intake and avoid
saturated fats.
Moderate exercise for 30 minutes five times a week, or vigorous exercise for 20 minutes three times a week.
Protect yourself from the sun.
Maintain a healthy weight.
Drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day.
Limit alcohol to two drinks per day.
Don’t smoke, and minimize your exposure to
second-hand smoke.
See your doctor regularly.
Know your family history and discuss it with your doctor.
If you are over 40, get a baseline PSA (prostate specific
antigen) test and monitor this periodically with your doctor.
Manage your stress.
• Get help if you need it.
As important as it is for you to take charge of your own health and
wellness, you can’t do it all. Getting regular checkups and age-appropriate screenings is a proven way to improve health and reduce
premature death and disability. Remember, if you’re a
member of a high-risk group or have a family history
of disease, talk to your health care provider about the
benefits of earlier screenings. Poor health can lead to a
restricted CDL and you may not qualify for employment
in many operations.
STAY HEALTHY OUTDOORS
It’s great to get outside and enjoy the mild spring weather! From
walking to having a picnic to trying a new sport or exercise,
there’s plenty to do outdoors. Just make sure you keep a few
simple tips in mind:

Remember your sunscreen. Whether it’s sunny or cloudy outside, the sun’s rays are still going strong. Apply sun
screen before going outside.
Wear sunglasses. Sunglasses are a stylish accessory that serves an important purpose—protecting your eyes from the sun!
Bring water along. If you are playing a sport or even just walking outside, bring a bottle of water with you to help stay properly hydrated.
Suffer from allergies? Many people get springtime sniffles due to spending time outside. Talk to your Doctor. Ask if there are any remedies, like antihistamine medications, that may be helpful for you.

HIGHWAY TO HEALTH NURSE PROGRAM
We are excited to announce we have contracted with Lockton
Companies for the Highway to Health Nurse Program that is
dedicated to our U.S. drivers. The program
enhances our goal to improve the health of
employees and is committed to helping drivers
stay healthy and safe on the road. Employees
will have the opportunity to work with a
professional nurse that can help maximize their
DOT certification and remain qualified.
Mandy Francis, our dedicated nurse, will begin
reaching out to employees within the next
couple of weeks.

What are some ways I can fit in more exercise?
Spring is the perfect time to kick your fitness habits into
gear. Take advantage of the warm weather and bring
outdoor workouts back into your routine!

Work out at work. Walking during your lunch break or having a walking meeting can help you fit a little exercise into your day. Walking helps you manage stress and be physically active. Invite a coworker to join you!
• Not a fan of gyms? No problem! Try spending some time outdoors by riding your bike or going on a hike. You’ll get the added benefit of spending time in nature, too.
• Have fun in the sun with your friends! Get together
with friends and play a sport like basketball. Try volleyball
if you have a beach nearby or soccer if a field is close.
Looking for something a little more low-key? Try hiking,
taking a bike ride around the neighborhood, or playing
Frisbee.
