Page 2 eliminating racism and empowering women MEMBERS’ COFFEE Members’ Coffee is a program designed to bring members and guests of the YWCA together by hosting an hour of socializing and networking all while enjoying a cup of coffee. On occasion we will have a guest speaker come in and have informative presentations or give demonstrations on “How To,” subjects. Members’ Coffee is a great way to keep in touch with other members of the YWCA and also meet our new members! Members’ Coffee is on the YWCA of Grand Island schedule to meet every third Thursday of the month from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Cost is FREE for members and $2 for non-members. The YWCA selects speakers who have experience and/or expertise in the field of their topic. Members of the YWCA and the public are encouraged to attend Empower Hour to educate themselves and pass their learning experience on to others. Empower Hour is set on the YWCA Calendar on the fourth Tuesday of the month from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Cost of Empower Hour is FREE for members and $5 for non-members. R.S.V.P. is required due to lunches being donated by local business. As a courtesy we report the number of people signed up the Friday before Empower Hour. Thank you! Also, to educate our community on the broader definition of the meaning of racism. The CUC hold monthly meetings and host four events every year. They include Martin Luther King Jr. Day in January, Stand Against Racism Walk in April, International Day of Peace in September and Advent Celebration in December. Build engineer-designed projects such as boats, bridges, mazes and cars, and use special pieces to create your own unique design! Explore the endless creative possibilities of the LEGO® building system with the guidance of an Instructor. This is an ideal way to prepare young builders for the challenge of Engineering FUNdamentals. Cheerleading Ages 2-7 May 25-27 1-3 p.m. Jump into a week of learning cheerleading basics and team fun! Arm motions, jumps, tumbling, stunts, cheers and routines will be the main focus of the week. Participants will learn how to work as a team along with the fundamentals of a new sport. Parents are invited to come early the last day of camp for a special performance.
