La Plata
La Plata translates “The Silver” and is the capital city
of the Province of Buenos Aires. The population is
574,369. La Plata was once call Eva Perón City from
1952-1955. The city is home to two soccer team that
play in the first division: Estudiantes and Gimnasia.
La Plata host one of the most renowned universities
in Argentina, the National University of La Plata.
Culture plays a major role in La Plata and is
represented with a large amount of cultural center,
theaters, museums, cinemas and libraries. Plaza
Moreno is the most important tourist area located in
the heart of the city, between streets 51 and 53.

Puerto Madero
Puerto Madero is in Buenos Aires,
occupying a large portion of the Rio de la
Plata riverbank and representing the latest
architectural trends in the city. Puerto
Maderoʼs historic red brick port structures
are transformed into modern residential and
business lofts. The area also has thriving
restaurants, yachts and modern high-rise
buildings.
La Boca
La Boca is a neighborhood of Buenos Aries with strong
european flavor derived from itʼs Italian settlers from Genoa.
La Boca is famous for itʼs bright colored buildings,
pedestrian street, the Caminito where tango artists perform.
More importantly La Boca is home of the famed club Boca
Juniors and the stadium where they play, La Bombonera.

Estudiantes de La Plata
Estudiantes de La Plata simply referred to as Estudiantes. The club is amongst
the most successful teams in Argentina and is current league champions. They
have won six international titles: 4 Copa Libertadores (including 3 straight from
1968-70), an Intercontinental Cup (beating Manchester United) and an
Interamerican Cup. The club was founded on August 4, 1905 when the fans
decided to break away from Gimnasia. Matches between the two clubs are
referred to as the Clásico Platense. The club has over 40,000 members and
their home stadium is Estadio Jorge Luis Hirschi. Estudiantes is nicknamed Los
Pincharratas (The Rat Stabbers), El León (The Lion). Estudiantes is the current
home of Jaun Sebastián Veron. Veron began his career at EDLP before
heading off to Boca, Lazio, Man Utd and Chelsea. Juanʼs father, Jaun Ramón
(The witch) is considered one of the greatest players of Estudiantes and scored
in the game vs. Man Utd. in the Intercontinental Cup. Carlos Bilardo, 1986
World Cup winning manager of Argentina was a former player and manager at
EDLP. To name a few.

Culture
Most Argentines are primarily of European descent, which separates them from other Latin American countries
where European and Indian cultures are more mixed. Culturally and emotionally, Argentines often seem more
European than Latin American.
Argentinean Family Values
The family is the centre of Argentine life with extended families still having prominence. The heads of powerful
families command widespread respect, but with this comes a responsibility to care for others in terms of security,
jobs, etc and to maintain personal and family honor. Honor is in all respects the be all and end all and it routinely
affects day-to-day life at home, in the community and in business.
Religion in Argentina
The Argentine constitution guarantees religious freedom. Roman Catholicism acts as the official state religion.
Other world religions, notably Islam, are gaining a foothold within the country during the last ten to fifteen years.
Expressive Communication Style
Argentines are on the whole open, blunt, and direct, yet are able to remain tactful and diplomatic. Argentines are a
warm peoples and their unreservedness brings to the fore their passion and sentimentality. In addition they are
close communicators physically so will often touch each other when speaking and maintain little physical distance
between speakers.
Cuisine
Argentines are famous for their high protein diet, particularly beef. Grilled meat from the asado is a staple, with
steak and beef ribs especially common. Chorizo, morcilla (blood sausage), chinchulines (chitterlings), mollejas
(sweetbread), and other parts of the animal are enjoyed.
