Women’s’ History is celebrated
this month. I am continuously
inspired by women who find
time to further their education,
own businesses, pursue musical
aspirations and positive
channels to feel good about
themselves and their
endeavors. We are recognizing
women who are going the extra
mile to improve themselves and
others through their
commitment to do and be
better. Our mission is to provide
inspirational, uplifting and
educational information to
enhance your daily living. As we
embark on this journey please
bear with us as we sift through
the highs and lows of this
voyage. We welcome your
comments or suggestions on
what you’d like to see in our
newsletter. Please feel free to
contact us at 727-485-3137.

WOMEN IN MUSIC
Eyra Brady of Orlando is at peace and blissful
when singing and playing her Cuatro, an instrument with origins in Venezuela.
If you have the courage to begin, you have the courage to succeed like…
Norah Jones - Norah Jones is definitely more than a pretty face. Her powerful
vocals, her prowess as a pianist and her unique sound that fuses several music
influences makes her one of today's successful female artists.
Alicia Keys - Alicia AugelloCook, known professionally as Alicia Keys, is an
American singer-songwriter and actress. Keys released her debut album
with J Records, having had previous record deals first with Columbia and
then Arista Records.
Sheila Escovedo - known by her stage name Sheila E., is an American drummer
and percussionist, perhaps best known for her work with Prince, George Duke
and Ringo Starr

WOMEN IN HISTORY
From the beginning of civilization women left an indelible mark on history. Eve, known as the mother
of all mankind, is the first woman mentioned in the Bible. She is credited with getting herself and
Adam thrown out of the Garden of Eden for tempting him to eat forbidden fruit. Cleopatra, known as
a seductress, becomes ruler of Egypt and leads her people fearlessly until she takes her own life with
the bite of an asp, following the death of her third husband Mark Anthony. On a lighter note many
women throughout the ages have been instrumental in changing the fabric of history. In my
community of Clearwater, Florida I’m recalling two good women who made a difference in the lives of
many.

YOU TOO CAN BE A WOMAN IN POLITICS
Women in politics include First Lady Michelle Obama, Former Atty. General Hillary
Clinton Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, Florida Lieutenant Governor Jennifer
Carroll, Former Congressional Candidate of Florida Nina Hayden, Attorney General
Pam Bondi
Victoria Woodhull was the first woman to run for U.S. president. She campaigned for the
office in 1872 under the National Woman’s Suffrage Association. While women would not
be granted the right to vote by a constitutional amendment for nearly 50 years, there were
no laws prohibiting a woman from running for the chief executive position.

WHY Sisters Inspiring Sisters to Excel Regardless of Status Newsletter?
Why not?
I wanted to create a unique publication featuring everyday women who like myself from time
to time need encouragement and inspiration. Sisters Inspiring Sisters to Excel Regardless of
Status Newsletter is unique in that we include our neighbors, friends or family members
because every now and then it’s good to READ OR HEAR someone say “you can do it.” The
women you and I come in contact with daily need to know and understand that anyone who
has ever “made it” or accomplished “star” status started from the beginning in communities
like yours and mine. They had their share of losses but hung in there to achieve the “Big
Win”.
Daily I encounter women of all makes, races and creeds who are broken in spirit and hope.
Too often these women have had their share of bumps and bruises dealing with everyday
challenges. The obstacles could have been caused by making wrong choices however if we
live long enough we are all bound to make them. Making the decision to change is
recognizing that as long as we are living beings our circumstances can improve and get better
by conquering the four letter ‘F’ word…fear.
Fear is the weight holding us back. It keeps us inside the box of being complacent. Fear is the
negative voice that tells us we can’t do because we might fail. Fear is the grip that chokes us
inside for thinking we may be laughed at. We use excuses like “I’m too old” “I don’t have
enough money” “now is not the time” or “when the children get older.” I challenge you to
change the way you think NOW and see your circumstances begin to change for better.
Sisters Inspiring Sisters to Excel Regardless of Status Newsletter is the publication about
encouraging and inspiring your co worker, neighbor, friend, mother or daughter to step
outside the box and excel where they are NOW!
THERE IS NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT, THAT’S WHY IT’S CALLED ‘A GIFT’!
