Presented by the Remodelers Council of the Building Industry Association (BIA) of Central Ohio, the BIA Showcase will be held on Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6, from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. All 15 homes will feature a wide array of renovations by the area’s leading design/build and construction firms. Proj- ects range from whole house renovations and outdoor living areas to kitchen and bathroom upgrades to lower level transformations. Tickets for the entire tour are $10 per person, and single site tickets are $3 per person. Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult. Tickets will be sold at all 15 Showcase locations the weekend of the event (cash only). Kresge Contracting moved the kitchen to another part of the house, and created an open, more convenient layout. They added Craftsman-accent cabinets, butcher block and quartz countertops, slate flooring, professional grade appliances, a custom-built banquette and a unique slate floor. Water flows through a two and a half ton granite boulder to join a stream that is bridged to lead to three more boulders on the other side. Renovations Unlimited used green products, including paints with no or low VOC levels and formaldehyde-free cabinets, throughout the project. The kitchen was remodeled to include several wow-factor features including LED lighting, a copper undermount sink with a patina that naturally heals scratches, a stacked stone grout-free backsplash and a granite-topped kitchen island with a unique leather-texture finish. Dave Fox Design/Build Remodelers opened the kitchen to expand the usable space. They created a unique two-tiered island out of an oversized slab of granite. On one end of the island eight people can sit comfortably. The island’s top tier has a gas cook top. The lighting above the island’s seating area features pendant lights hung at different heights; there is task lighting above the cooktop. Nicholson Builders added specific arts and crafts design details to draw out the historic charm and romance the homeowner desired. Existing walls were opened up to create a more dramatic view to the backyard and pool. The kitchen features include quarter sawn oak cabinetry with inset doors, unique leather finished granite countertops, all Ohio custom made tile backsplash, open wine/book storage and stainless steel appliances. Nicholson Builders created an open BEFORE floorplan and upgraded the fireplaces, which were unique to the home.
