Anika’s Corner “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence” - Vince Lombardi T’s Time August Monthly Intervention Next TFC Ongoing Training Meeting Monday August 3, 2015 at 6:00pm August Holidays 3– National Watermelon Day 10— National S’mores Day 13—Left Hander’s Day 19—National Aviation Day 26—Women’s Equality Day Recipe for Success EQUIPMENT: One Sheet of Scrapbooking paper (any style), Writing instruments such as a pen or pencil, Scrapbooking decorations , supplies to create a chef’s hat or apron for each family memeber PROGRAM GOALS: 1. Increase self-awareness related to individual and family needs 2. Identify strengths and weaknesses within the family 3. Develop future goals for treatment sessions ACTIVITY: Ask the family to collaborate on developing a recipe for success, that is , a recipe that includes the necessary ingredients for a happy, successful family. Have them include ingredients, quantities, and cooking instructions. The ingredients should be related to emotions, thoughts sensations, and behaviors. CLOSING QUESTIONS: 1. What thoughts emerged as you constructed the recipe? 2. Did any ingredients surprise you? If so, in what ways? 3. Who else will know this recipe? With whom would you share it and under what circumstance? 4. What tools might you need to be able to complete the recipe? Monthly Recipe No– Bake Cookies & Cream Meltaways Prep Time:10 mins Directions: Finely crush 30 Oreos, using a food processor if possible. Combine Oreo crumbs with ½ c. softened butter and press into 9x9 inch pan to form crust. Chill crust until firm. In a medium mixing bowl, combine powdered sugar, ½ c. softened butter, milk, and vanilla. Mix in medium-high speed 2-3 minutes. Crush remaining 10 Oreos, leaving some larger pieces, and stir into powdered sugar mixture. Spread mixture over top of crust and keep refrigerated until ready to serve. Ingredients: 40 oreos, divided 1 Cup Unsalted Butter 3 Cups Powdered Sugar 2 Tablespoons Milk 1 Teaspoon of Vanilla August Upcoming Events Chesapeake’s “Movie & More” Series feat. Please bring your lawn chairs or blankets. Blue Star Museums For Military Families— August 14th from he Blue Star Museums program is back! Blue Star Museums is a collaboration of the National Endowment of the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and over 2,000 museums throughout the United States. This program allows military personnel and their families to visit participating museums for FREE. Food Truck Hump Days on the Great Bridge Waterways!— August 19th– 4:00pm Every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month, join us at 1775 Historic Way, Chesapeake, VA 23320 from 4 p.m. - Dusk.
