install just one free software application, the DS-Client,
at each remote location. That eliminates the cost of
installing an “agent” or “client” on every machine you

licensing model means that you pay only for the aggregate
amount of compressed data from across your enterprise
network. There’s no charge for the local DS-Client
software, no matter how many LANs you’re protecting.

duplicate data that appears on networked computers such as system files and registry settings - is sent only
once to the online vault. As you add machines to
individual LANs, the average cost actually goes down.
You can automate client installations across a variety of
operating systems and network configurations. The DSClient can protect data from most operating
environments, such as Windows®™, Unix, Linux, including
"hot" backup of Oracle®, MS-SQL® and MS-Exchange®. It
integrates fully with Windows NT® domains, Trusts and
Novell® NDS trees, and otherwise adopts your local LAN’s
existing security settings.

To speed recovery, data is initially stored on disk at your
central data center. There, the system automatically
stores critical data (used for day-to-day operations) and
important data (legal and regulatory) to the appropriate
media - critical on disk for fast access and recovery,
important on tape for offsite storage. A marked
improvement over traditional local tape backup methods
that treat both types the same.
