E@SYFILE RESTORE A BACKUP PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOUR E@SYFILE SOFTWARE IS ALWAYS ON THE LATEST RELEASE 1. RESTORE AN E@SYFILE BACKUP • Click on Utilities in the left hand pane of the E@syfile Home Page. • Click on the Database Utilities option. • There are 2 restore options available, Merge and Restore: o Merge The Merge option will add the information on your backup to your current database and will only overwrite the transaction year. Please note that you will have to re-enter EMP501 data for this year. Passwords to access E@syfile will not be overwritten with passwords on the backup. o Restore This option will overwrite everything in the database. If you had data already in your database it will be overwritten with information on the backup. Passwords to access E@syfile will be set to the passwords stored as part of the backup. Suggestion: We suggest you use the Merge option, if you have received an E@syfile backup from a VIP Consultant. This option will ensure that all information previously stored on your E@syfile will still exist on your local database. Page 1 of 3 © Copyright Sage VIP 2013 Merge a backup • • Extract the zipped backup into any new folder. • Click on Merge Easyfile DB. Select the relevant company file from the destination where you extracted your backup and click on Open to begin the merge process. The file name will be the companies PAYE number and is a .dbz file. Take Note: If you can’t see the .dbz file, the backup wasn’t extracted into a new folder. • The following message will display. Click on Yes. • Enter the E@syfile Username and Password that was used to make the backup and click on Validate. • The following message will display while merging the data. • Once the process has been completed you will get a message indicating that the merge proccess was completed successfully. Click on OK Page 2 of 3 © Copyright Sage VIP 2013 Restore a Backup • Click on Restore Easyfile DB. • Select the relevant backup file from the destination where you saved it and click on Open to begin the restore process. The file will be in compressed zip format and shouldn’t be extracted into a new folder. • The following message will display. Click on Yes: • Once the process has been completed you will get a message indicating that the restore proccess was completed successfully. Click on OK. • The E@syfile program will close at this point. Access the system again to continue with your work process.
