Observer Sport is always full of
appeals for junior footballers –
but a scheme at Wyndley
Leisure Centre is searching for
players at the other end of the
age spectrum. Wyndley hosts
‘walking football’ sessions for
players over 50 or for players
who can no longer play
mainstream football. Sessions
take place Thursday mornings
at 11am at a cost of £3 per
session. Organiser Scot Leydon
said: “We want to attract more
and more players as it is
fantastic fun and a great way of
exercising while socialising at
the same time.” For more

backstroke.
In the 12-yr boys, Sam
Cooper took silver with a PB in
the 50m breaststroke.
B team Stars of the Gala
were both awarded to swimmers in the 10-yr age group –
Reece Holt, who improved
hugely on his round one performance,
and
Maddison
Mann, who had an excellent
night, swimming PBs in all
her races.
The B team’s result leaves
them lying in fifth place nicely
positioned to reach the final in
September where the top six
teams fight it out for a top four
position and promotion to Division One.
