In the early part of last year my wife was seriously
unwell, suffering from loss of flesh and appetite
together with mental and bodily exhaustion, and
sleeplessness. She was under treatment for a con
siderable time without relief, and I at last determined
to try « Wincarnis.''
The
effect was marked, and convalescence com
menced from that date ; the appetite returned and the
weight hourly increased, and in about two months the
health was restored, and this result was in a great
measure attributable to the use of " Wincarnis "—of
this I feel certain, that in many cases this preparation
is a most valuable adjunct to medical treatment

D E A R S I R S — I have great pleasure in testifying to
the efficacy of your " Invalid Champagne " submitted
to me for trial by Mr. Cashing. I administered it to
a child in a state of extreme collapse from an attack
of Influenza and Pleurisy. The result WAS marvellous.
The smouldering embers of life seemed at once to burst
into flame, and an uninterrupted recovery ensued.
I have no hesitation in laying that your " Invalid
Champagne " is possessed of powerful stimulating and
invigorating qualities, and cannot nail to be appre
ciated in all cases of debility, from whatsoever cause
arising.
I am, yours faithfully,

Circuit. The new president inherited from
his father a passion for books, and a keen
desire for scholarship and culture, which has
been one of the features of his ministry,
and doubtless one of many reasons which
brought him to his present high positon.
Under the influence of his christian parents,
he early became a member of the Church,
and a teacher in the Sunday School. Wisely,
as many will think, he received a training in
business, and gained a knowledge of the
world by spending six years in the employ
of Messrs. Bryson, Jameson and Company,
large timber merchants in his native town.
At the age of eighteen Mr. Watkinson
began to preach, and three years later was a
candidate for the ministry, From the first
he gave signs of great promise as a preacher
of real thought and originality. I t seems
that his mother, contrary to the habits
of mothers in such cases, was the chief
opponent of his choice of a life's work.
She knew the delicacy of his health, and
feared the strain of a Methodist preacher's
life would be too great for his health. When
he was proposed, he was very slightly known
to the members of the Quarterly Meeting,
and they hesitated to vote for a youth whom
they had never heard preach a sermon. B u t
his superintendent had such confidence in
the future President that he adjourned the
meeting, asking them to come and hear the
candidate. They came, and were so im
pressed by what they heard, that they unani
mously recommended him. On_ his arrival
in London for the July examination, bis
