PASTOR'S CORNER
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
May God bless all of our mothers on this Mother’s Day. The second reading
today as well as the Gospel speak about love which is very appropriate
on the day dedicated to moms. St. John tells us, “Beloved, let us love one
another, because love is of God; everyone who loves is begotten by God
and knows God.” (1 John 4:7-10). In the Gospel according to John, Jesus
said to his disciples: “As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain
in my love.” He continues, “This is my commandment: love one another
as I love you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for
one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you.” And
what does Jesus command? “This I command you: love one another.”
(John 15:9-17)
On the Cross Jesus died for us. Even as he was dying for all of us he was
caring for his mother, “When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there
whom he loved, he said to his mother, ‘Woman, behold, your son.’ Then
he said to the disciple, ‘Behold, your mother.’ And from that hour the
disciple took her into his home.” (John 19:26-27)
Thank you, Jesus, for loving us so much that you died for us. Thank you
for loving us so much that you rose from the dead to give us eternal life.
Thank you for loving your mother and our mother. May we love your
mother and our mother as you love us.
“Everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God.” (1 John 4:7)
Happy Mother’s Day!

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY
from Respect Life Ministry
Estate planning is not just for
older or wealthy people. Younger

a will and estate plan in place giving instructions to their loved ones
regarding their children in the event of a debilitating illness, accident or
untimely death.
10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon "Wills and Trusts Seminar"
Morning session will cover all aspects of a well-planned estate,
including estate taxes, probate, guardianship of minors, selection of
personal representatives and creating or updating your will or trust.
6:00-8:00 p.m. "Provide and Protect Your Family"
Evening session is specially designed for families with minor children.
Learn how to select guardians for your minor children, print out medical
directives and guardianship forms, create a basic will and determine if
you need a trust.
Admission is free. Refreshments will be served. Reservations not
necessary but welcome. Call 282-4208 or e-mail PlannedGiving@

This I Command You:
Love One Another
"To love another person
means to impart Christ
to him. You cannot impart that
which you do not have. The
more you love God and accept
him in this love by allowing
him to live and act in you, the
more capable you are of loving
others." —Tadeusz Dajczer, The

CHRISTIAN INITIATION
of ADULTS
Those who wish to
know about the
process of becoming
Catholic and/or receiving
the sacraments of Baptism,
Confirmation and Eucharist are
invited to our Inquiry Class on
Monday evenings at 7:30 p.m.
in the parish center. For info
call Cindy at 846-3359x462.
STEWARDSHIP
“Once we start
mastering the
domination that
money has over us, we can then
allow the Lord room to work in
us and through us. The Lord
says if we just take the first
step toward him, he’ll take nine
steps toward us. That first step
is a sacrificial offering.”

St. Bonaventure - Our Church a Legacy for Generations
Saint Bonaventure: The New Exterior
Outwardly, the familiar structure, with its
stained glass windows and red brick, will look
much like the Saint Bonaventure we have known
n
for the past 50 years. However the exterior
enhancements will forever change how we enter
our place of worship, gather in fellowship, and
go forth to carry out the mission of Christ. Most
notable is the plaza area.
The new plaza will truly be for the gathering of the people. The plaza will be appropriate for our
large receptions who gather for sacraments, at the holidays, and also within the year in serving our
faith communities, ministries and our Catholic school. By design, the plaza opens and faces our
school, thereby physically encompassing our communities as one.
