Some of those trees planted are growing very nicely. 4 HOUSING AUTHORITY Teresa Cook Retirement Housing Director Roland Poncho attended the retirement party for Teresa Cook at the Southern Plains Office of Native American Program (SPONAP) office in Oklahoma City. Teresa retired after 30 years of service with the Housing and Urban Development. She assisted the Tribe as grants management rep and later as Grants Evaluation specialist. She received a special pine needle basket gift on behalf of the Tribe. SPONAP serves over 25 housing authorities throughout Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas. It is the granting agency from which the Housing Authority is funded. ATTENTION CRAFTERS! We have opened the gift shop at the AC One Stop and are looking for local vendors. We are interested in jewelry and other tribal crafts to sell at reasonable prices. Our hours will be 9am to 5pm. For more information call Sheila Alec or Cordelia Battise at 936-563-1360. The purpose of this program is to offer assistance to the low-income families who are in dire need. Our objectives are to not only assist, but to help alleviate some financial burdens. This is done to help families become more self-sufficient financially with an overall goal to help keep out of poverty. CSBG applications are provided at the Social Services Offices, located in the Annex Building. All applications must be submitted to the office clerk with the following: A valid TX drivers id A CDIB id A Social Security Card Last 30 days proof of income (which include your job’s pay stubs, child support payments, unemployment stubs, TANF, SSI Letters, or any type of self -supporting income) Copies of the above will be taken and placed with your CSBG application and processed by the office clerk. It will be reviewed to ensure all information is complete and correct. After, it will be submitted to the Social Services Director for review. They in turn, will process the paperwork and return to the office clerk with approval or disapproval. If approved, the office clerk will then submit a purchase requisition for payment to the A/C Procurement Offices for pledge approvals. PLEASE NOTE: This process may take approximately 2-3 business days. Requests for utility payments must be submitted in a timely manner for us to make pledge calls. Please do not wait until the “cut off day” or your propane levels to go below 20 percent. All assistance will be done as long as you, the applicant, comply with the guidelines. The CSBG Programs allows three (3) emergency assistances for the year. Once the first assistance is granted, there will be a 45 day waiting period for the next assistance. If there is payment made for electricity or propane, you cannot use the same two (2) assistances in a row. The office clerk will contact you once an approval is made and also send you a confirmation letter. Your CSBG application will be kept on file in our office so that you may continue to participate in this program. If there are any questions about the CSBG Programs please contact Sylvia Johnson at 563 -1250 from 9 am to 3 pm Monday thru Friday. 10 CONGRATULATIONS FUTURE ARTIST AT WORK, CONGRATULATION TO SETH BEENE-WILLIAMS!
