MALLORCA, SPAIN L U X U R Y Wild Rock has been visiting Mallorca for over a decade. Many of our best customers have shared great experiences with us on this fine Spanish island. Always searching for the best experiences for our guests, in fall 2017 we offer you Mallorca Luxury. Away from the coastal resorts we will take you to experience all the history and beauty that Mallorca has to offer. Starting in the foothills of the Tramuntana range we will stay in a country-side Finca and then move to the ancient, car free walled city of Alcudia. Suitable for almost any rider, Mallorca Luxury will mix the incredibly diverse cycling experiences available with luxury accommodations, food and wine. Every day will offer up a heady mixture of top notch accommodations paired with five star rides. One group’s idea of a great ride might be a 40km stroll through vineyards and crops, mostly flat and with a nice lunch and many photo stops. Another group’s idea of a five star ride might be 125km with 3 epic climbs. From our doorstep we can satisfy all while enjoying breakfasts and dinners together. Our first four nights we stay at the Finca Monnaber Nou. Country manors, or ‘fincas’ are the essence of rural Majorca. Our finca is located in the most beautiful part of Majorca, in the foothills of the glorious Sierra de Tramuntana mountain range. It encompasses an area of 556 acres surrounded by gentle hills, olive trees, almond, carob and fig trees. . DATES late Sept / early Oct 2017 COST per person based on dbl occupancy $3,499 Single supplement: $250 DURATION 8 days / 7 nights ARRIVAL/DEPARTING AIRPORT Palma, Mallorca - PMI RIDER TYPE Avid / Enthusiast Leisure / Recreational MALLORCA, SPAIN L U X U R Y For generations they have raised sheep and produced their own olive oil. The history that we will immerse ourselves in at Mannaber Nou is remarkable, starting at the beginning of the 13th century when King Jaime I of Aragon conquered Majorca and overthrew its Arab rulers. The king divided the lands among the nobles who had supported him. One of these territories, in the gently sloping foothills near Campanet was known by the Arabic for ‘Hill of Flowers’ –‘Monnaber’. Nights 4-7 are spent in the old walled city of Alcudia at the Petit Hotel. The area where Alcúdia is located has been inhabited since the Bronze Age, but it is with the arrival of the Romans that the city made its entry in the history books. The Romans used the beaches of Alcúdia bay when they captured the island in 123 B.C. The Roman walls still stand and make this a traffic free walled paradise. We stay inside the walls in the historical center, enjoying 3 different restaurants for our dinners. This trip will appeal to those who like to bookend their cycling day with quality meals and drink in an environment that is calming, rich in history and luxurious. Rent or Bring your Bike? RIDER TYPES Leisure Recreation I like riding my bike, but I like seeing the sights and soaking up the culture just as much. My ideal day would feature a balance of riding, experiencing something new, and having a nice meal or two. I am happy to ride 35-50km but like the roads to be mostly flat. The comfort of my bike is important to me. I like to ride in an upright position and prefer a hybrid bike. I ride my bike for fitness and fun. I consider myself to be an active person, pursuing both cycling and other activities weekly. On a holiday, I want to ride my bike for a significant part of each day, but I still want time to experience the culture and maybe take some photos or visit a market. I don’t want to struggle uphill at every turn but I am willing to take on some hill-climbing if it means I will see something truly special. Enthusiast Avid Staying fit and active is very important to me and my bike is a big part of my active lifestyle. I want to experience new places from the saddle as the road curves beneath me. Although I like a nice meal, the idea of fueling up at a simple café is just fine as long as the ride there is spectacular. Climbing hills is great but, I like to do so at my own speed. I love a physical challenge and the idea of riding 100km with some hill climbing gets my heart racing. I am an experienced cyclist who rides many times a week, often in a group. I enjoy a brisk pace and the challenge of climbing alpine passes. I love to train, improve, and maybe even race my friends. I consider myself to be a cyclist at heart so nothing is better for me than spending most of the day pedaling. Climbing and descending mountains, coastal winds and long rides are what make up my perfect holiday. PAYMENTS Payments for the trip are all made through Melissa at Peterborough Travel (705-745-2050).
