Many of the youth are very excited to be going back, and we have several who are attending for the first time this summer! We are still short of our fundraising goal, and plans for a last fundraiser will be announced once they are scheduled. This year we have 14 youth attending camp, which is 5 more than we had last year! We are all anticipating this wonderful experience of growth, discovery, and renewal in our faiths. We will be attending camp July 19th-25th, so please keep the youth and leaders in your prayers during that time! Also, many of the youth will be helping as leaders in VBS in July. This is another great time for the youth to help teach the younger children what they have been learning, and learn to use their gifts and talents to serve the church. The youth will be helping to plan and lead some worship services this summer as well. The youth will be helping with the worship service on July 19th following VBS, and also they will be planning and leading the worship service on August 16th. During this time they will share with the congregation what they learned from their week at camp, and show the congregation some of the songs and scripture lessons that they learned while at camp! Thank you so much for your continued support of our youth. We are truly grateful for allowing this trip to camp to become a possibility. Thank you for your monetary donations to the youth, as well as your words of encouragement and your prayers. Muslims from around the globe are moving into our neighborhoods, working in the same companies, and studying alongside us in schools. This is an amazing act of God as He is bringing precious Muslims into our sphere of influence. Journey to Jesus is a six-session resource that teaches Christians how to reach out to Muslims in friendship with the love of Christ. Through high-quality live-action video dramatizations and engaging teaching materials, your organization, family, small group, church, or Bible study group will explore the culture and background of Muslims, as well as meet three types of Muslims (refugees or new arrivals, culturally liberal, and conservative Muslims). Journey to Jesus will equip, inspire, and encourage any Christian toward successful conversations with Muslims to show the love of Christ. •Sundays 9 am in the Library Led by Mel and Nancy Gehrs No class on July 5th MAY 2015 FINANCIAL REPORT May giving was ahead of last year at $3750 per week vs. $3675 per week last year. Our year-to-date giving is $3786 per week vs. a budget of $4400 per week. Year to date giving is even with last year. Building giving is near budget at $8200 vs. $7000 last year. With several projects that we need to fund and General giving lagging, we will need to have a fundraiser in the near future. Expenses continue to be well managed with most categories below budget. Insurance is above budget, however even with last year, so we may have mis-budgeted that category ($1900 variance). We will need to maintain giving through the summer months as we do not want to lose further ground to our budget. Respectfully submitted, Bruce Denby Upcoming Appeals and Fundraisers July: Vacation Bible School Ongoing: Scrip Cards, Recycle inkjet Cartridges, Aluminum cans Summer Play Locations ALL MOMS & KIDS INVITED 10am – Noon Bring a sack lunch and get ready for fun! Amen. From our friends… Dear Friends at Faith, For 40 years we were active members of Faith Church and have many fond memories: singing in the choir under the direction of Rita Carlson, teaching Sunday school for 31 years, developing and directing the bus ministry, developing and leading junior church as part of the bus ministry (nearly 100 children each week), active participation in the missions commission, including particularly close association with “Project Angel Tree” and the Chicago ministry of Rev. Marian Tapé, establishing and directing “Faith Players” with focus on children’s theater, serving as delegate to the Northern Illinois Conference for several years, serving as scoutmaster for Troop 84, and finally, for the church’s 125th anniversary, researching and publishing a church history with documentation and pictures. We will never forget these years and opportunities for ministry at Faith Church. We read the monthly church newsletter from cover to cover and take note of the emailed requests for prayer. May God bless you all as you continue to serve Him. Love and in Christ, Fred and Sharon Moore The Downers Grove FISH Pantry helps families in need.
