TECHE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER has been
serving the residents of St. Mary Parish for more than 60 years. Delivering
quality healthcare close to home is the single most important contribution
we make. But there are many other ways we make a positive impact on the

We are committed to ensuring the delivery of needed healthcare to all
members of the community, regardless of their ability to pay. Last year, the
cost to Teche Regional Medical Center was more than $4.2 million to provide
services for those without the ability to pay for their care.
New physicians
During the past year, Teche Regional Medical Center added a urologist and
general surgeon to our highly respected medical staff. David Benson, MD, a
urologist with Teche Regional Urology has practiced for over 28 years. He
is a native of Shreveport. He is board certified in urology. Neil Lyons, MD, a
general surgeon with South Louisiana Medical Associates is a native of Houma,
Louisiana. He received his medical degree from LSU in Shreveport and completed his general surgery residency at Ochsner Medical Center, New Orleans.

“Charity and other uncompensated care” includes hospital costs not covered by
Medicaid reimbursements and supplemental payments, as well as charity care and bad
debt. “Physician recruitment costs” include recruitment costs and support of new physicians’
initial practice establishment in the community. Payroll includes consolidated salaries,
wages, benefits and contract labor costs. “Capital investments” include facility expansions/
renovations, equipment purchases, technology replacement, information technology
additions/updates, and routine facility upkeep and maintenance.
