2014 REPORT
TO T H E C O M M U N I T Y
At Teche Regional Medical
Center, our goal is to deliver the best
healthcare available to the residents of St.
Mary Parish as we seek to make our community healthier. With the help of dedicated physicians, employees, volunteers and
board members, along with your continued
support and encouragement, we continue
our passionate pursuit of excellence.
Butch Fraizer, CEO
Teche Regional
Medical Center
Delivering quality healthcare close to home
is the single most important contribution we
make. But there are many other ways we
make a positive impact on the communities
we serve. Here are a few of the ways we
are making a difference.
More than $1.5 million in capital improvements
In 2014, Teche Regional spent approximately $804,000 on new
equipment and facility updates. The hospital purchased a new
ultrasound unit and wireless digital X-ray, making our Radiology
Department entirely digital. We also purchased a chemistry analyzer
and completely new telemetry system, just to name a few.
In fact, we invested $1,511,301 in our facilities last year which, in
addition to the above, included technology replacement, information
technology additions/updates, and important facility upkeep and
maintenance.
Contributing to our local tax base
Last year, Teche Regional Medical Center paid $426,833 in taxes
which helped support our city, county and state.
This included state and local sales taxes as well
as property taxes. These dollars help maintain
local schools, fund the development of roads, recruit business and
industry, and provide other similar services vital to support and
sustain a thriving economy.
Helping those in need
Teche Regional Medical Center is committed to ensuring the delivery
of needed healthcare to all members of the community, regardless
of their ability to pay. Last year, the cost to Teche Regional Medical
Center was more than $4.3 million to provide services for those
without the ability to pay for their care.
Adding new physicians
During the past year, Teche Regional Medical Center added Nicholas
Sells, MD, an infectious disease and internal medicine physician with
Atchafalaya Internal Medicine Associates to our highly respected
medical staff. Dr. Sells graduated from the Tennessee Technological
University in Cookeville, TN. He received his medical degree from
Medical University of the Americas, Charlestown, Nevis, West
Indies. In addition, he completed his internal medicine residency at
Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center in Houma, LA, before completing a fellowship in infectious disease at University of Mississippi
Medical Center.
One of our community’s major employers
With an annual payroll of $18,424,828 and an average of 290
employees, Teche Regional Medical Center is one of the largest
employers in the region. This means that our staff and family
members attend many of the same schools, shop at the same
stores and volunteer their time and resources for the same
organizations as you do.
We thank you for choosing us for your healthcare needs. With your support, we can continue
making our community healthier.
