Sometimes nothing is more fun than to jump
in the car on a pretty Sunday afternoon and
take off on your favorite back roads. Carefree
and enjoying the blessings of life is good for
us all. The new recording, Special Edition,
from the east Tennessee based family trio
Sunday Drive, might be just what you want
to put in the CD player on that afternoon
outing.
Formed in 1999 as The Jeff Treece Band,
Jeff, his wife Misty and his brother Dusty
have transitioned to a very refreshing young
group that has become favorites, not only
on the church and concert circuit, but also
at RV Parks and Hotrod Auto shows across
the country. They’ve played dates with artists
such as Big Daddy Weave, David Crowder
Band, Tanya Tucker, The Oak Ridge Boys, as
well as many in the Southern Gospel genre.
As 2016 marks the 30th Anniversary of Sonlite
Records, Sunday Drive and label head Chris
White decided it was time to remake the
first radio single and re-release it to gospel
radio. Penned by award winning writer Kirk
Talley, “If There’s A Rocking Chair In Heaven”
is already hitting the airwaves across the
country, featuring Misty on the first verses.
But there is a bit of a surprise on verse three.
Listen closely as Jeff’s mother, Violet, comes
in from the original recording in 1986 and
carries it on to the end. This is the only song
on this new album not written or co-written
by Jeff. The album kicks off with the jazzy
upbeat style of “A Good Song”, followed
by the proclamation in the lyrics of “I Thank
You” and “I’ll Stand For You.” Special Edition is filled with powerful lyrics, upbeat tunes and
a touch of fun, as Jeff adds a touch of
comedy with “Don’t Forget My Senior
Discount.” From beginning to end, Special
Edition will surely be a favorite for those
Sunday afternoon drives.
Along with the success of their last single
“Happy, Happy, Happy”, landing on
multiple genre charts at the same time,
including CashBox Magazine, Sunday Drive
is a multi-award winning artist in the INCMA
(Inspirational Country Music Association)
and ICGA (Inspirational Country Gospel
Association), proving that there can only be
positive things to come from this talented trio
