LGBT History Month 2013
february 2013 www.lgbthistory.org.uk hello! 01 welcome to LGBT History Month 2013 LGBT History Month Scotland takes place across the country every February. It is an opportunity to celebrate LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) life and culture and to recognise the achievements of LGBT people and communities. LGBT History Month is organised by LGBT Youth Scotland, and every year we work in partnership with groups and organisations to programme a range of arts, culture and education events. LGBT History Month is for everyone: community groups, organisations, individuals, activists, professionals, service providers, LGBT and non-LGBT people alike. We’re now in our 8th year and in that time we have gone from strength to strength. We’re grateful to all our long-time supporters and partners and we’re looking forward to another month of fabulous events. If you’re discovering us for the first time in 2013 we hope you’ll find something to interest you here. But if not, why not get in touch to find out how to organise your own event? See lgbthistory.org.uk or contact Amy at [email protected]/0141 552 7425. Through the support of Creative Scotland, we have been able to award 12 grants of up to £1,000 to enable organisations of all sizes – from community based groups to national organisations – to host a total of 16 artistic and cultural events during February 2013. We’re delighted to be able to include these events in this programme. Look out for the History Month logo next to the event listing to spot our grant winners. Keep an eye on lgbthistory.org.uk for up to date info on our full programme of events. Happy LGBT History Month from all the team! Cover image: Lucy Holmes-Elliott, see page 10.
