‐ This ^ ^ ^ Holy Card is a gift to each of our parish families in commemoration of the canonization of St. Teresa of Kolkata. They will be blessed at Masses on September 4, the day of St. Teresa’s canonization in Rome, and available to all families at that time. Please take one for your home, and next week any extras will be made available. ‐ In honor of the canonization of St. Teresa and keeping with the tradition we began last year at this time, I will have a ‘blessing of backpacks’ for all students returning to school. Each student will receive a Tiny Saint zipper‐pull with clip that has the image of St. Teresa (similar to last year’s St. Joseph zipper‐pull). If you are a Catholic school student, a public school student, a homeschool student, a college student, a student PERIOD, please bring your backpack or whatever else you want to clip the blessed zipper‐pull to on September 18 at the 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Masses. ADORATION: The Blessed Sacrament is exposed on First Fridays from 9:30 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. BAPTISM OF INFANTS: Preparation classes for registered parishioners are scheduled for the last Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. Parents of newborns must register for the class at least one week prior by calling Christine Brown at 417‐300‐8690. A date for the baptism will be scheduled following class attendance. BAPTISM OF ADULTS: Please contact the parish office to arrange for participation in RCIA. MARRIAGE PREPARATION: Our diocesan policy requires the parish priest be contacted at least six months prior to the proposed date of the couples’ wedding to schedule preparation catechesis. ANOINTING OF THE SICK: If facing serious illness, please contact the parish office to arrange for anointing. PARISH SCHOOL OF RELIGION: Classes for K‐12th grade are held from 9:15‐10:15 a.m. during the school year. FIRST SACRAMENTS: Children should be enrolled in the Parish School of Religion prior to the start of their 1st grade year to prepare for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion (normally celebrated in 2nd grade). CONFIRMATION: Preparation for Confirmation in 2018 began August 21, 2016 for 8th‐11th grade students. Office Hours

This is for all scouts, boys and girls, fourth grade and above. This includes Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, American Heritage Girls, Trail Life USA, and any other "scouting" group. Non‐

SAVE THE DATE 7th ANNUAL BEER & BBQ St. Joseph Catholic Academy in Springfield will host it’s 7th annual BEER & BBQ fundraiser on Saturday, October 15, in the St. Joseph Parish Hall. Several kinds of smoked meats, salads, baked beans, and desserts will be available for sampling. Lots of silent & live auction items and live music. The fun begins at 5:30 p.m. Ticket details will be available soon. 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time: The first reading encourages us to keep our minds on God, not on worldly concerns. In the second reading, Paul sends Onesimus back to his owner Philemon, with the hope that Philemon will take him back not as a slave but as a brother.
