Pool Basics
Who can use the pool?
Those taking classes at Schoolcraft College (Credit or
CEPD - must show schedule to lifeguard); Faculty/Staff
of the college; Community Fitness Center members
(must obtain a swim pass from the fitness desk and
show to the lifeguard); Guests of the Fitness Center
(who have filled out proper paperwork, paid $5 and
obtained a swim pass from the front desk).
If a guest would like to use the pool, they must stop
by the Fitness Center front desk, fill out a guest card,
health questionnaire, show I.D. and pay $5 to use the
pool during lap swim hours.
What are the water and air temperatures?
The water temperature is approximately 84 degrees,
the air temperature is approximately 86 degrees.
How many lanes are in the pool?
6
Are there kickboards and other
pool items available for use?
Yes, kickboards and other floatation devices are
available during lap swim from the lifeguards.
How do I get in the pool?
The entrance for males and females is via the locker
rooms.
Is it handicapped accessible?
Yes, through the locker rooms and there is a lift
available for pool entry (in addition to the stairs).
What about the locker rooms?

• Individual shower stalls
• Bathing suit dryers
What is the length of the lanes?
25 yards
What is the depth of the water in the lap lanes?
4 1/2 feet
Is it Olympic sized?
No
How deep is the diving well?
13 feet
How many diving boards? What are their heights?
3:2 one meter boards and one 3 meter board.
What are the lap swim hours?
M - F : 7 am to 8 am and 12 noon to 1 pm
T & Th: 4 pm to 5 pm
• Dry saunas
• Lockers (for rent at Fitness Center Desk- $20 per
semester or bring your own lock- must be removed
when you leave as the college will remove them at
the end of the night.)
• Towels are available either at the PE Equipment
room counter or at the Fitness Center
Family Locker Rooms/Changing Area
Family changing rooms are available to accommodate
two distinct populations:
• Parents or guardians with children more than two (2)
years of age of the opposite sex.
• Persons with disabilities requiring assistance from
helpers of the opposite sex.
All others must use their designated locker room.
Viewing area for parents and others?
Yes. It is open typically during classes. Can be
accessed up two flights of stairs off the main lobby of
the PE building.
