Lucy McKenna’s new body of work will transform The Source Gallery into a
temporary environment where diverging theories about existence overlap. Science,
folklore, religion and superstitious traditions feed into her work. ‘The Lacuna in
Parallax’ investigates the lacuna, or missing information, that may reside in the
spaces between these different points of view. This exhibition is influenced partially
by research carried out on Thurles town on some of its geographical structures.
Meet the Artist: Lucy talks to Secondary School students on Friday 12
September at 12pm and the general public at 7.30pm. Free of charge.

works in music and arts broadcasting. John will be interviewed about his
latest novel by Mick Heaney.

Tuesdays with Morrie is the autobiographical
story of Mitch Albom, an accomplished
journalist driven solely by his career, and
Morrie Schwartz, his former college professor.

professor is battling Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
Mitch is reunited with Morrie and what starts

On 30th January 1984 it is said that the whole of Ireland grieved the
early death of Dubliner legend Luke Kelly. He has left an indelible
mark as the greatest folk artist of the 20th Century and his music is
widely regarded as one of Ireland's cultural treasures. Dublin
singer/songwriter Chris Kavanagh bears a remarkable resemblance to
Luke, his singing talents capture the depth and passion of the great
man. Over the past twelve years he has amazed audiences with
powerful sell-out performances in prominent Irish venues. Join us and

This exhibition explores Frank Rafter’s recent artistic journey from painting, a
return to drawing and on into printmaking which is now his main
occupation.
Much of Frank’s drawing and print work is concerned with the concept of
binary opposites such as smoothness/rust; growth/decay; glitz/dereliction
(shopping centres) deriving from the idea of edge - a persistent obsession in
his thinking. The area of artist’s books unite his two great interests - art and
literature.

Thurles Drama Group will announce its Autumn production in early September. The
group has had a very busy and successful year with its productions of ‘The Weir’ by
Conor McPherson and ‘A View from the Bridge’ by Arthur Miller. The latter qualified
for the All Ireland Finals in Athlone. The group is always looking for new members
and the Autumn production is a great opportunity to welcome newcomers.

not one, but two, RTÉ TV series airing this year. Rediscovering The Irish
Kitchen began in June and Donal’s Irish Feast airs this Autumn.
If that wasn’t enough Donal is also the lead presenter on Junior Masterchef
on BBC 1 and his Grandma’s Boy TV Show debuts worldwide on the Fox
International Network. Last year Donal was the first ever Irish chef to tour a
live cookery show around Ireland. He enjoyed himself so much he has
