The wealth of images of the Arctic that Canadian Geographic accumulated
since 1930 and the extensive work of The Royal Canadian Geographical
Society and The Canadian Museum of Nature in this region are clear reflections
of how the North has always been at the very heart of Canadian identity.
The Accessible Arctic brings the beauty of the North close to us as it speaks
of its past, present and future. These quintessential images of nature and life
in the arctic also remind us of the vast treasure that we hold in trust for future
generations.

association with the University Gallery, University of Newcastle.

L’abondance des images de l’Arctique recueillies par Canadian Geographic
depuis 1930 et le travail intense de la Société géographique royale du Canada
et du Musée canadien de la nature dans cette région démontrent clairement
que le Nord a toujours été au coeur de l’identité canadienne.
L’Arctique accessible nous rapproche de la beauté du Nord et nous raconte
son passé, son présent et son avenir. Ces images quintessentielles de la
nature et de la vie dans l’Arctique nous rappellent que nous sommes les
dépositaires d’un immense trésor que nous devons préserver pour les
prochaines générations.
Une exposition présentée par la Haut-commissariat du Canada à Canberra,
en collaboration avec la Galerie Université, Université de Newcastle.
