“All the beautiful regions I have seen - in my opinion - cannot compare with Salzburg’s divine natural beauty.” Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Salzburg - joie de vivre
Salzburg is a many-faceted city. Once
ruled by archbishops, uniting both
secular and ecclesiastical power, the
city can look back on a moving history. Many baroque church spires,
the Cathedral, the Residence and a
number of magnificent venues bear
witness to a great past.
Mirabell Gardens
Salzburg’s major attractions at a glance: Hohensalzburg
Fortress, the Mirabell Gardens and Mozart’s Birthplace
in the center of Salzburg’s historic city center, listed as a
UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997.
Today the narrow streets of the historic city center are dominated by
a vibrant hustle and bustle. Countless museums and galleries beg to
be explored at length. Listen to
the music of the street musicians
while enjoying a cup of coffee and
“Salzburger Nockerl” or take a
walk across the city’s mountains to
take in the spectacular view of the
city’s surroundings.
Music plays an important role in
Salzburg: whether it focuses on W.
A. Mozart, whose birthplace and
residence are among the city’s most
popular attractions, “The Sound
of Music” or the festivals at Easter,
Whitsun or during the summer. Over
4,000 cultural events are held in Salzburg each year: opportunity enough
to give in to the charm of the music
and the joie de vivre.
