Charles Leickert worked and lived in Amsterdam, The Hague, Mainz and temporarily in Brussels. Leickert was amongst others a pupil of Andreas Schelfhout. Influenced by his last teacher he painted landscapes and town and beach views, preferably in the winter. The works of Charles Leickert are best known for their beautiful light and elaborate details. In 1856 he was appointed member of the Royal Academy in Amsterdam. Many
Dutch museums have works of him, including the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
