JANUARY
January 1- January 25: In Our Gallery –Patrick Henry High School Students. Patrick Henry High School Fine Arts Department
will be showcasing a variety of work that includes: Photography, Graphic Arts, Crafts, and Fine Art pieces. Reception: January
12th from 3-5 p.m. Gallery hours are Monday to Thursday 9 to 9pm, Friday 10 to 6 pm, and Saturday 10 to 2pm.
January 3: Heritage Music Night, Starts at 6:45 p.m. Featuring the West Hanover Boys and special guest band, TBD. This free
concert is a monthly treat! Snacks and beverages available for a fee.
January 6 to 10: Growing with the Arts Project: Ceramic at South Anna Elementary. South Anna Elementary students will have
the opportunity to play with clay with David Camden and Nancy Mozart. Creations will be on display for a temporary public art
themed outdoor garden at the Montpelier Center. Partially sponsored by National Endowment for the Art, Artworks grant, and
CultureWorks grant project, Championed by Altria and private donations.
January 11: Growing with the Arts Project: Stoneware with David Camden and Nancy Cozart: Family Ceramic Day: Come
out from 9 to noon to watch demonstrations and try your hand in clay. This free event is part of the National Endowment for the Art,
Artworks grant and CultureWorks grant project, Championed by Altria and private donations.
January 24: Pampered Chef Bingo, Starts at 7 p.m. – Join us for a fun night of bingo with Pampered Chef products as prizes for
each game! Admission fee is $20pp which includes snacks, all sixteen bingo games and a chance for door prizes.
January 25: Growing with the Arts Project: Stoneware and Raku with David Camden and Nancy Cozart: Family Ceramic
Day: Come out from 9 to noon to watch demonstrations and try your hand in clay. This free event is part of the National Endowment

January 29 – March 1: In Our Gallery: The Heart of the Horse: Realistic and Abstract Paintings of Horses by Willa Frayser.
Meet the Artist at a free Opening Reception on Sunday, February 2, 2-4 pm. Being in their presence gives a sense of freedom that
quickens her heartbeat, and Frayser realizes that she has to capture the essence of these magical creatures. The viewer will see many
emotions in Willa’s horse paintings, ranging from detailed, Photo-Realism paintings, to the wild spirit and vibrant color in her

January 29 – March 1: In Our Gallery: East Wall: “A Horse of Course: The Equine Image of Art” explores the numerous ways
in which the horse has inspired artists throughout the ages. No animal has been more important to us, or figured more prominently in
our art, than the horse. This exhibition is a testament to the magnificence of the horse throughout history and its changing image over
time. A wide variety of artists are represented, ranging from George Stubbs, to Edgar Degas, to Deborah Butterfield. This Traveling
Exhibit is on loan to us from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
FEBRUARY

the opportunity to learn printmaking while creating their linoleum cut design. Partially sponsored by National Endowment for the Art,
Artworks grant, and CultureWorks grant project, Championed by Altria and private donations.
February 10 to 14: Growing with the Arts Project: Printmaking at Patrick Henry High School. Patrick Henry High art students
will have the opportunity to learn printmaking while creating their wood block cut design. Partially sponsored by National
Endowment for the Art, Artworks grant, and CultureWorks grant project, Championed by Altria and private donations.

February 8: Growing with the Arts Project: Glazing Stoneware and Raku with David Camden and Nancy Cozart: Family
Ceramic Day: Come out from 9 to noon to watch demonstrations and glaze your ceramic creation. Must have attended previous
Community Ceramic Day to participate. This free event is part of the National Endowment for the Art, Artworks grant and
CultureWorks grant project, Championed by Altria and private donations.
February 8: Love of the Arts Night: Celebrating 25 years with Montpelier’s own stars! The Montpelier Center’s Winter
fundraiser featuring musical skits and celebrating the 25 years of the Center. Come out for an evening of fun, music, food, drinks, live
and silent auctions. $200 for table of 8 or $25 per person. More information on website: www.montpeleircenter.org
MARCH
March 4 – 29: In Our Gallery: Laura E. Allen: “May the Road Rise to Meet You” “As an artist, I am passionate about materials
and process. Reclaimed objects fascinate me with their inherent history and associations. The everyday items we touch, use, and
discard reflect who we are as individuals and a society.” www.lauraelizabethallen.com

March 15: Growing with the Arts Project: Printmaking with Dennis Winston. Basic one day workshop, an appreciation and

the tools safely and learn the language of the print. Both beginners and experienced students are welcome. All tools and materials will

March 21: Gift Card Bingo. Starts at 7 p.m. – Join us for a fun night of bingo with mystery prizes (gift cards, jewelry, etc...) for
each game! Admission fee is $20pp which includes snacks, all sixteen bingo games and a chance for door prizes.
APRIL
April 1 – 30: In Our Gallery: Virginia Equine Artist Association: An Exhibition by its members in various mediums. VEAA
promotes and markets Virginia equine art and provides educational opportunities for Virginia equine artists and photographers.

May 2: Heritage Music Night, Starts at 6:45 p.m. Featuring: The West Hanover Boys with special guest, TBD. This free concert is a
monthly treat! Snacks and beverages available for a fee. Donations accepted to benefit the Center
May 3: 17th Annual Celebration of the Arts Night. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. An evening celebrating the arts and the conclusion of
the Growing with Arts Project. The community will be invited to bring in their creations ahead of time to be on display for the
community along with the announcing the winners of our 1st South Atlantic Juried Art Show, the unveiling of the temporary
community art garden, and Flower Art created by David Pippin and his students earlier in the day. More information on website

May 3: Artists in Action Day 10 am to 3pm. This is the conclusion of the Growing with the Arts Project sponsored by National
Endowment for the Arts, artworks, and CultureWorks Grant Program, Championed by Altria. Over 30 Artists will be demonstrating
and selling their wares on the grounds plus the unveiling of the temporary public garden art created by the students of Western
Hanover County and the community.
May 16: Relay for Life Quilt Bingo. Come out and support the American Cancer Society! Starts at 7 p.m. All proceeds go to the
American Cancer Society. Admission Fee $20pp which includes snacks, all sixteen bingo games and a chance for door prizes. Call
Betty Brabrand at 883-5008 for all the details.
JUNE

July 1-31: In Our Gallery: Amy Harris: Best in Show Winner in our National Juried Exhibition 2013.

AUGUST
August 2-31: In Our Gallery: Thomas Smagala: “Pushing Paint” features a variety of subject matter that focuses on bold brushes
strokes and the energy used to produce them. The results are paintings that are realistic and abstract, full of movement, yet quiet at the
same time.
August 15: Music Under the Stars Concert Series. Grounds open at 6:00pm, music at 6:30pm.
SEPTEMBER
September 2– 30: In Our Gallery: Lindsay Nolting: The Piedmont landscape of Virginia has been a principle source of imagery
for Nolting’s acrylic abstractions. “Landscape is my attempt to reconcile diagonals and horizontals, a blue and a brown, air and dirt,
self and over yonder.” www.lindsaynolting.com

September 26: Mystery Bingo. Starts at 7 p.m. Join us for a fun night of bingo with mystery prizes (gift cards, jewelry, etc...) for
each game! Admission fee is $20pp which includes snacks, all sixteen bingo games and a chance for door prizes. There will be an
auction of homemade baked goods and a raffle.
OCTOBER
3
October 1 – 29: In Our Gallery: James River Art League: Celebrating 50 Years of Visual Art in Virginia. A Selection of recent 2dimensional art by JRAL members, who work in a wide spectrum of mediums, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, graphite,
collage, and block print. www.jamesriverartleague.com.
October 3: Heritage Music Night, Starts at 6:45p.m. Featuring The West Hanover Boys with special guest band, TBD. This free

NOVEMBER
November 1 – December 27: In Our Gallery: Annual Grand Local Artists Show, featuring: “Hanover County Landmarks and
Legends: Small Works of Art Show”. Opening Reception: Sunday, Nov. 2, 2-4 pm.
November 7: Heritage Music Night, Starts at 6:45 p.m. Featuring: The West Hanover Boys with special guest band TBD. This free
concert is a monthly treat! Donations accepted to benefit the Center. Snacks and drinks are available for a fee.
November 14: Basket Bingo, 7:00 p.m., For a very worthy cause join in for a great night of bingo! Sixteen games total with a
Longaberger Basket as the prize to the winner of each game. Admission Fee $20pp which includes snacks, all sixteen bingo games
and a chance for door prizes. There will also be an Auction of homemade cakes and a raffle for Longaberger Baskets. All proceeds
will benefit the American Cancer Society. Call Betty Brabrand at 883-5008 for all the details.
DECEMBER
November 1 to December 29: In Our Gallery -The Grand Local Artists Show and “Hanover County Landmarks and
Legends: Small Works of Art Show. The Gallery is open Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m., Friday, 10:00 a.m. –
6:00 p.m. and Saturdays 10:00 a.m. – 2 p.m.

December 13: Santa's North Pole, Come visit with Santa from 11:30 to 2pm! Craft projects to keep children occupied. Fees apply to
professional photos with Santa.
