For over two decades, the PRO BOLIVIAN COMMITTEE has organized the Bolivian Festival which has been
a traditional and popular expression of Bolivian Culture that
contributes to the multiculturalism of the Latin-American
Community in the Washington metropolitan area. Bolivian
youth groups, parents, family and friends participate in
this colorful and traditional festival with the objective to
cultivate and show with pride the wealth and tradition of
the Bolivian Culture through authentic dance and costume
performance.
Fraternities affiliated with the PRO BOLIVIAN
COMMITTEE and several other Invited Groups; perform
numerous dances from different geographical areas of
Bolivia. The Festival lasts an entire day with thousands of
spectators in attendance, enjoying colorful costumes and
wonderful music. It is held during the Labor Day weekend
at the Prince William County Fairgrounds in Virginia.Some
original Bolivian Dances performed at the Festival have
ancient roots and geographical customs and manners,
among which we can cite: Diablada, Morenada, Caporales,
Tobas, Suri-Sicuris, Tinkus, Kullaguada, Llamerada, Pujllay,
Salaque Waca-Waca and several others.
Festival goers of all ages can expect to find, In addition
tthe wonderful music and traditional dance performances
presented at this Festival, an endless variety of authentic
Bolivian cuisine. This includes the popular Salteñas (meat
pies), Macho, the traditional Pique Charque, Silpancho,
Fricase, as well as the delicious Chicharrón, and many
other delicious dishes.

of Bolivia! The PRO BOLIVIAN COMMITTEE initiated its
activities in 1987 and was incorporated as a corporation
in 1988 in the State of Virginia It is a non-profit Charitable
Organization with a 501-C (3) status . The Pro Bolivian
Committee is dedicated to preserve and showcase the
Bolivian folkloric and cultural heritage. The Pro Bolivian
Committee is a grass roots organization with over 2000
youth members.
This year The PRO BOLIVIAN COMMITTEE will be celebrating its 26th Anniversary with several events
throughout the year. At these various events we will be
showcasing the beauty and richness of Bolivian Folklore
to more than 40,000 Bolivians in the Washington, DC metro
area and several thousands more throughout the East
Coast!
