Learn!about!the!many!types!of!prayer
In!Luke's!Gospel,!Jesus'!disciples!entreated,!"Lord,
teach!us!to!pray."!!They!were!looking!for!the!right
words.!!But!during!his!life,!Jesus!taught!them!that
there!are!many!ways!to!pray,!including!how!one
lives!his!or!her!life.!!John!Calvin!wrote,!"Prayer!is
none!other!than!an!expanding!of!our!hearts!in!the
presence!of!God."

Join!the!Rev.!Keenan!Kelsey!this!coming!Tuesday!from!6:30!PM!W!8:00!PM!as!we!pray!our!way
through!Lent!and!explore!ways!and!moments!of!prayer,!the!when!and!the!how
of!prayer.!This!interac've!Lenten!study!will!introduce!a!variety!of!prayer!prac'ces!W!from!silent
prayer!all!the!way!to!body!movement!and!art!and!musicW!and!put!them!in!a!context,!for!instance:
confession,!joy,!lament,!intercession.

THE YOUNG DEMOCRAT OF THE YEAR AWARD
Last!night,!at!a!major!event!in!Santa!Rosa,
afended!by!800!Democra'c!Party!leaders,!the
Sonoma!County!Democra'c!Central!Commifee
presented!Blake!with!The!Young!Democrat!of!the
Year!Award.!David!Glass,!Mayor!of!Petaluma,
presented!the!award.
In!afendance!were!Blake's!colleagues!from
Marin!County!Young!Democrats,!Sonoma!County
Young!Democrats!and!Wine!Country!Young
Democrats!as!well!as!local!Congressional!and
State!Assembly!leaders.
The!award!is!presented!annually!to!a!Sonoma!County!Democra'c!leader!between!the!ages
of!19!and!35!in!recogni'on!of!major!service!to!the!Democra'c!Party.!We!are!told!that
Blake!is!the!youngest!person!to!win!the!award.
Blake!is!Membership!and!Communica'ons!Coordinator!for!SCCA!(Sonoma!County
Conserva'on!Ac'on)!and!is!working!toward!his!Masters!Degree!in!Public!Administra'on!at
the!University!of!San!Francisco.

I!am!excited!to!announce!that!I!will!be!opening!my
voice!studio!within!the!next!few!weeks!!!I!am!a!firm
believer!that!once!a!solid!founda'on!is!established,
healthy!singing!can!be!achieved!and!expressed!in
any!genre!and!style!of!music.!!Whether!your!interest
in!voice!lessons!stems!from!an!upcoming
performance,!curiosity!of!what!your!voice!is!capable
of,!or!pure!joy!and!selfWexpression,!I!would!be

Saturday!night!at!Fellowship!cinemaWverite!style!!we!were!treated!to!the!movie!SHEWDEVIL,
starring!Meryl!Streep.!!The!film!was!directed!by!Susan!Seidelman!(who!also!directed
DESPERATELY!SEEKING!SUSAN,!Madonna's!first!starring!role).!!!Check!your!IMDB!crew!list
and!!you'll!discover!the!assistant!to!the!director!was!our!very!own!Pastor!Paul!(billed!as
"Paul!Mowry").!!Pastor!Paul!offered!up!behindWtheWscenes!stories!and!gave!us!the!inside
scoop!on!the!produc'on!of!this!feature!film.!
Gourmet!pizzas!and!two!different!salads,!son!drinks,!popcorn!and!licorice!was!
enjoyed!by!all.

Marin!resident,!Ann!Langston,!has!a!passion!for!crea'ng!art,!both!oils!and!watercolor.!Travels!to
France!and!Japan!over!the!years!gave!her!opportuni'es!to!immerse!herself!in!foreign!cultures,
and!also!inspira'on!to!paint!everything!she!saw.!Bubbling!over!with!ideas!and!images,!she!would
return!to!the!studio,!sketchbook!in!hand,!and!recreate!the!excitement!of!those!adventures.
