Monsignor Smyth Golf Tournament
Congratulations and Welcome!
Our new neophytes and candidates were fully initiated into our Catholic Faith through the Sacraments of Initiation during the Easter Vigil. The Monsignor Smyth Golf Tournament will be held on April 22 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of St. Mark Catholic school. Alumni and their families are encouraged to attend to commemorate this milestone year. This year we will play at Luna Vista Golf Course. Shot gun start to begin at 9:00am. The entry fee is $150.00 per player. This includes all golf, 8 beverage tickets and a meal after the round. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams. You can also enter the Long Drive and Closest to the pin contest as well as purchase mulligans for your round. All proceeds support the St. Mark Catholic School Athletic Program. Bishop Adult Initiative for the Rite of Confirmation
In an effort to “open wide the doors to Christ” for the people of our diocese, Bishop Kevin Farrell has extended the permission for pastors to confirm adults
in their parishes on Pentecost, May 19, 2013. In this light, St. Mark the Evangelist, through Bishop Farrell, invites our practicing adult Catholics (18 years of
age and out of high school), who lack the Sacrament of Confirmation, to be sealed with the fullness of the gift of the Holy Spirit.
If you are currently a registered member of St. Mark the Evangelist and a practicing adult Catholic in good standing and have
already received the Sacrament of Baptism and Eucharist, you are invited to register and attend the preparation class on
Tues. May 7, beginning at 7:00pm, in the Upper Room. Sponsors are welcome to attend. Adult Confirmation will be celebrated on
Pentecost, Sunday, May 19, 2013, at the 9:00am Mass.
To register for the Adult Confirmation preparation class, the following information must be turned in to the Faith Formation Office prior to attending the class.
 Registration Form for the Bishop's Adult Initiative for the Rite of Confirmation (additional copies available on our website or the Parish Office)
 a copy of Baptismal Certificate with notations (if no notations are listed and you are married, we must have a copy of the church marriage
certificate)
 a letter of good standing from the Sponsor’s parish*
*Please note to be a sponsor for the Sacrament of Confirmation, the following is required: he or she must be a baptized Catholic who has received the
Eucharist and been Confirmed, and who is currently living a sacramental life (e.g., attending Mass regularly, making use of the sacrament of Reconciliation)
and if married, in a marriage recognized by the Catholic church; be at least sixteen years of age; lead a life of faith in harmony with the ministry they are
undertaking and have the intention of undertaking the ministry of a sponsor; they may not be the parent of the individual to be confirmed (parent may stand in

Iniciativa del Obispo de Adultos para del Rito de Confirmación
En el esfuerzo para “abrir las puertas a Cristo” para la gente de nuestra diócesis, el Obispo Kevin Farrell ha extendido el permiso a los párrocos para
confirmar adultos en sus parroquias el día de Pentecostés, 19 de Mayo del 2013. San Marcos el Evangelista a través del Obispo Farrell, les invita a nuestros
Adultos católicos practicantes (de 18 años y hayan terminado la prepa) quien les falte el Sacramento de Confirmación, que sean sellados con la plenitud del
don del Espíritu Santo.
Si usted actualmente es miembro registrado en la parroquia de San Marcos el Evangelista y es un adulto practicante Católico en buena
posición y ha recibido los Sacramentos de Bautismo y Eucaristía, le invitamos a registrarse para asistir a unas clases de preparación en los
siguientes días:
4/18/2013 Jueves y 4/23/2013 Martes empezando a las 7:00pm en el salón 208 en el Centro Pastoral Smyth. También se les
invita a los padrinos/madrinas asistir las clases. Por favor de traer sus Biblia con ustedes. La celebración de la Confirmación de
