SIR SAINT WILL LEAD US TO VICTORY OVER THE EVIL TEAMS OF THE NFC SOUTH OFFICIAL 2010 SEASON NEWSLETTER #18 Here Comes the Train All aboard cause this “Victory Train” isn’t stopping. With back-to-back wins these SAINTS are on a roll. The Boyz N Black & Gold brought their A-Game for a battle against the League’s best team when the Steelers came to town on Halloween Night which was followed by an away game against the club that has given Payton the most trouble since taking the head-coaching duties back in ’06, when the SAINTS beat up the Panthers 2 Sunday’s ago, sweeping the Panthers in a season series for the first time since 2001. Like a flashback these SAINTS were showing Who-Dats everywhere that the 2009 SAINTS were still alive and well and definitely in the Playoff hunt amongst six other teams with a 6-3 record. With the running game missing from the SAINTS’ Offense for the first nine weeks of the season; the running back's perspective has changed after spending most of their time off the field and in the training room. "I feel great. I feel better than I did a couple of weeks ago, I can tell you that," Pierre Thomas said Thursday. "I got a smile on my face. I'm not grumpy. I'm not upset about my ankle anymore." While Thomas is suiting up for practice and doing some individual work, he is not yet taking part in 11-on-11 drills, so he is officially listed as not practicing on the injury report. Thomas is not expected to play this Sunday when the Seahawks come to The Dome, but he sounded optimistic that his return would come sooner than later. After the Seattle game, the Saints play at Dallas on Thanksgiving Day. Thomas grinned but did not answer when asked if he might be playing by then. Saints coach Sean Payton said Thomas has "turned a corner a little bit in the last week-and-a-half." "He's doing a lot of agility work during the course of practice with the trainers and I think he's starting to get his strength back," Payton said. Yesterday, Thomas, who was New Orleans' top rusher last season and a key performer in the playoffs, has missed six games since spraining his left ankle in Week 3. Thomas tried to return to practice in Week 5, only to later wind up wearing a protective boot and using crutches. "It is depressing, man," Thomas said. "I wasn't thrilled about not being out there helping my guys out when I really wanted to." Last week, while many of the Saints left town for a short vacation during the bye week, Bush stayed in New Orleans and continued his rehabilitation and sounded optimistic that he would be back against Seattle and his old college coach at Southern California, Pete Carroll. Good news travels fast as it was made known that RB Reggie Bush will play this Sunday and see action for the first time since Week 2 against the 49ers. Saints coach Sean Payton often tries to keep opponents guessing about the status of key players, and in Bush’s case, that’s been going on for several weeks. “He moved around pretty well and got some good work. We just keep plugging ahead and increasing the workload,” the coach said when asked if Bush’s return was likely this week. “Each week he has gotten better and … there haven’t been any setbacks, so naturally he’s better today than he was a week ago or two weeks ago.” When the Saints opened the season 2-0 with Bush in the lineup and are 4-3 since, although it’s not clear how much Bush’s absence hurt the offense from week to week. The Saints have had their three most lopsided victories— double-digit wins over Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh and Carolina—without Bush. “There are many ways we can get Reggie the ball,” Brees stressed after Wednesday’s practice. “Anytime you can just give him the ball in space, he’s a matchup problem for everybody, because there’s not really a guy who can cover him in a short area because of his quickness and athletic ability.” It appears that the SAINTS are getting healthier as they get a stretch of the schedule that very well could decide how viable a threat they are to defend their Super Bowl title. Now, the second half begins…. Below, are the TOP TEAM POWER RANKINGS and here’s the updated chart!! What a MESS!!!! 1. Patriots 7-2 2. Falcons 7-2 3. Jets 7-2 4. Eagles 6-3 5. Packers 6-3 6.
