healthy walkathon
Still related to the fresh atmosphere of 50th Anniversary, Universitas Brawijaya (UB) and Universitas Brawijaya
Alumni Association (IKA UB) held a healthy walkathon in Jakarta on Sunday (24/2). The event, themed "Go
Green and Healthy" went on very lively, proven by the number of participants of the event. Thousands of
participants joined the event, attended by UB officials and the alumni from various places, especially UB alumni in
Jakarta.
With route from Monas Monument, along Thamrin street, to HI roundabout, thousands of UB anniversary
participants enjoy the walk. They looked solid wearing blue t shirt uniform, as if UB academic community
members and the alumnus join as one. And moreover the event is simultaneous to the Car Free Day (CFD) event
held routinely by central government.
The event did not stop after the walk ended. After the walk, the participants are entertained by interesting activities
such as morning aerobic, live music and doorprize. The event is also participated by former Minister of Marine
Fadel Muhammad, Prof Achmad Sodiki (Vice Head of Constitutional Court), and I Wayan Gede Pasek Suardika
(member of DPR-RI commission II).

On his speech, Prof Yogi Sugito as the Rector of UB convey his happiness on the liveliness of the event. "As one
of the event to celebrate the 50th Anniversary, I'm very thankful to all who participate in the event. Surely this is to
strengthen the relation between UB community members and also the alumni. I have no idea that this event is
going to be very lively," he said happily.
Looking at the liveliness and the enthusiasm of the participants, Prof Yogi then decided to schedule the event on
next year UB anniversary events. "In this golden anniversary, we actually aim to turn Jakarta blue. But don't
worry, I have decided to schedule this event to be held annually," he said.
In the end of the event, Prof Yogi and representative of UB community members and the head of alumni
association perform a symbolic planting of a tree. It is planned that 1000 trees will be planted around Mount Pancar
Bogor, West Java. There is also signing on banner with the theme of go green and healthy. This is related to the
initial objective of the event, which is to support global afforestation and habituating healthy life. [indra/translated
