▶usable in professional high-end photography.
▶applicable to measure the color temperature for the color balance.
▶avoids effectively the defects arising in photography, when the camera cannot correctly balance the
color in difficult lighting situations.
▶produces the same results as using a mennon® grey card.
● mennon® white balance lens caps are usable with all Digital SLR cameras and DC/DVs with custom
color balance function.
● The mount of mennon® white balance lens caps is designed based on the ISO standard.

Technical Data
Every scene which you photograph is differently lit by
one or more light source(s) with specific color
temperature(s). The color temperature of the light
source influences with which colors the
photographed scene is "perceived" and recorded by
the sensor of your camera.

Working principle of mennon® white
balance lens cap
You let the specific light of the actual light source(s),
which lighten the scene which you want to
photograph, shine onto the sensor of your camera
through the milky white light-transmitting medium of
the mennon® WB lens cap.
Now the custom white balance function of your
camera can measure the exact spectral composition
of the light source and calculate the white balance
value accordingly.
How to get white balance:
1. Check the manual of your camera about the
custom mode for white balance setting
2. Set your camera to this custom mode
3. Install the mennon® WB cap in front of the lens
4. Set the focal distance to infinity and the zoom to
telephoto
5. Aim the lens to the present light source or to the
bright sky
6. Press the WB button to measure and save the WB
value
7. Now you can photograph with customized white
balance

If the scene which you want to photograph, is lit by 2 (or more) light sources with different color temperatures (f.i. full moon
and tungsten at night), the exact determination of the perfect white balance becomes complicated.
In such a situation we suggest to aim the lens at the light sources in a way, that the light of all relevant light sources shines
through the WB lens cap while you press the WB button. Alternatively you can try to measure the white balance of the
predominant light source only. In such a lighting situation it often makes sense to measure in several ways and compare the
results, cause it is often a matter of taste, which method produces the most "natural" white balance.
How to choose the suitable WB lens cap and how to mount it:
mennon® white balance lens caps are suitable for all digital cameras and
digital video cameras (except digital mini cameras). They suit also with all
professional lenses for digital and film cameras.
▶ direct installation
If there is a flush strip at the front margin of the lens tube (at least 1.5-4mm wide,
depending on cap size), on which you can slip the lens cap, then measure the outer
diameter of this strip and choose the model with corresponding "D" in the technical
data table. In this case you can install mennon® white balance lens caps directly
(Pic 1).

▶ installation using the included adapter
If there is no such flush strip at the front margin of the lens tube, there should be a
female thread following the ISO standard to mount filters. Measure the internal
diameter of this filter thread and choose the model "WB-xx", where xx is the internal
diameter of the filter thread in mm. You can install this mennon® white balance lens
cap using the adapter included in the package (Pic 2).
