Pray, Study, Serve.
By now, most students are back to school while the rest of us try to acclimate to new schedules and a faster pace. During the month of September, several parish programs, ministries
and the formation process for Christian initiation all begin. They are not intended to add to
your already busy life. Instead, they are intended to ground and enrich your life in Christ
through opportunities to pray, study and serve. Whether you are at the very beginning of
your faith journey, have been working on your spiritual life for some time, or feel lost, we are
all called to be lifelong disciples (students) of Jesus. We are blessed to have so many opportunities in our parish to deepen our prayer life, to learn more about our faith, and serve others.
Please look through our bulletin, visit our website, or contact the parish office for information
on opportunities to grow your faith.

The contentious voices surrounding the issue of immigration in the U.S. reflect many sides and perspectives,
with no single voice comprising the entire story. Where
can we find common ground?
The Catholic Social Justice Ministry invites all those sincerely seeking truth and the Catholic perspective on
immigration issues to take part in a comprehensive eight
-week study to find that common ground and more
about ourselves, our values, our God and the millions of
people who are on the move in every part of the world.

What does it take for faith to grow in teens?
Souls who are willing to accompany them on
the journey. This is what we’re asking for, disciples who are willing to help other disciples
come to know Jesus Christ. You don’t need to
have it all together or know everything about
being Catholic. All it takes is a desire to serve
and grow in love of God. We need people to
help with Confirmation classes, hospitality ministry, music ministry, prayer teams and of course,
youth group. This will be a life changing experience for anyone willing to be involved in leading teens closer to Christ. If you are feeling a tug
on your heart to serve our young church,
contact Laura Schuberg, the youth minister/
Confirmation director.
Email: [email protected].
Phone: 949-496-9719.
Pray about it, you might be surprised
by what God says!
Do you know any adult
interested in becoming
a Catholic? OR
Do you know any adult
Catholic who has not completed the Sacraments of
Initiation?
Plan to join us this Fall for the Inquiry Phase of
RCIA. Just contact Donna Couch, Director of Faith
Formation, for a personal interview to begin the process. The first information session will be held on
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15th at 7:00 p.m. in
Knight Hall. All are welcome!
ADULT CONFIRMATION CLASS IS ALSO
FORMING: if you were never confirmed along the
way in high school, no need to feel guilty or upset
about it anymore! We have a special process of preparation just for you. Contact us today! 949-496-6011
Women’s Silent Retreat
at the Sacred Heart Retreat House
October 9-11
Have you ever had a desire to get away for a few days and spend some
time alone with God? Have you ever wanted to go on a retreat or wondered what it would be like to experience one? Or just have a few days
rest to Renew your tired mind, body, and spirit or some time to refocus your life and priorities?
Jesus said to his disciples: "COME WAY by yourselves to secluded place and rest awhile.” MK 6:31
Come away and rest awhile, Sounds pretty easy, but the reality of putting into practice is another story.
A time of rest {particularly a retreat} gives us a God moment in the midst of our busy life to look at our past account for our present and to imagine a new and better future.
This is an invitation to you to join the women of St. Edward on our week-end silent retreat
in October we spend the week-end with the Carmelite Sisters at their beautiful retreat
grounds in Alhambra. Consider joining us...pray about it.

Acts: The Spread of the Kingdom
by Jeff Cavins and Sarah Christmyer
Step Three in The Great Adventure
Bible Study Program, Acts: The
Spread of the Kingdom, builds on
The Bible Timeline and Matthew by
showing how Christ's Kingdom on
earth is empowered to carry out
his work in the world. The book of
Acts shows the Church, enlivened
by the Holy Spirit, teaching,
preaching, healing, and restoring outcasts in the same
way that Jesus did on earth.
The Acts of the Apostles provides an historic framework for understanding the rest of the New Testament. Paul’s letters in particular come alive in a new
way when they are read within the context of the Acts
narrative.
When was the last time you did
something special
alone together?
Most couples are busy with work and
family. It seems that every moment of
the day is planned and there’s never enough time to get
everything done.
When was the last time you had a weekend alone?
Consider planning a weekend away just the two of you,
to renew your marriage relationship. We have 2 weekends to choose from: Sept. 18-20 and Nov. 13-15. Both
these weekends start on Friday night and end on Sunday
afternoon. They will be located at an Orange County
hotel.
For more information, please contact Jim and Cheryl at
949-551-9156 or John and Maggie Lee at 714-837-5136.
