Players Cup By Clint Westmoreland The men down at Cloud 9 in Kent have been itching to play this cup since the last time they defended it. The Cactus Moon crew was more than happy to accept the challenge, so they headed off to Kent to see what they could do. Mike Williams, Todd Jordan, Ish and Lee went to Cloud 9 to take on John Husman, Jay Birkland, Richard Baker and Rick Clark. This match went a total of 31 games. We saw a total of 46 hat tricks, 1 three in the black, three 9-counts and several amazing outs, including the high out of the day, a 177! This match was all about focus, and that is exactly what they all did. All the way to the end, when the crew from Cactus came out on top. Fun to watch players of this caliber in an exciting race to 17. Great job everyone! ____________________________ The Medallion is published monthly by: R & K Entertainment, LLC P.O. I reached out to the organization who is part of helping children in need and learned that Darts for Kids is an amazing husband and wife team that truly cares! Here’s the letter I got from Bob, the husband and co-founder. I think it’s beautiful “as is” so please read on, and reach out when you can. The dart community is something special to say the least. We salute you! “Thanks for the interest in Darts for Kids. Darts for kids is an organization started by my wife Tammy and I a little over five years ago. After I signed my first big sponsorship deal with Cosmo Darts /Fit Flight my wife asked “now that you have your deal what do you think about giving back ?” She pitched the idea of the dart tournament raising money for sick people. I listened and said I’m in but with one change , I want to do it for kids , not so much adults since I have lost a child and she has too. Perfect she says we’ll call it Darts for Kids! The first year we figured would be our last as well, you know kind of a one and done deal. She kept seeing this little girl on Facebook that was 6 months old and needed a heart transplant. I came home from work and said I had found a little girl fighting cystic fibrosis. We had two kids , so we “picked” them as the focal points of our first tournament . The 6 month old was Hailey Moore, complete stranger to us and the other a 5 yr old named Karlie Cox. Long story short Hailey was just a couple of days from being unlucky when her heart came in and everything went well. We raised about $10,000 that first year and sent some money to Hailey’s family, Randy and Missy Moore from Whitehall , Illinois. We gave Robbie and Meaghan Cox money for Karlie. We know we can never touch medical bills so our goal is to raise enough to make memories with the child. Hailey’s parents needed it for every day living since they both lost jobs and Karlie got to go to Disney. Come to find out Hailey was the niece of a guy that played darts with us and he didn’t know anything about the situation or our group at the time . Since that time we have helped 47 children after a few changes in our system . We have paid for headstones, family photos for children that were never leaving a hospital, trips to physical therapy camps , paid for equipment for autistic children etc. We request bios on the children with photos on small boards so while at the event you can read about some of the things these poor kids go through. We also ask that the children if able , attend so people can meet them and see where their money is going . Two years ago Randy and Missy showed up as usual but were hours early and wanted to talk to us privately. We were nervous thinking something wasn’t right so we sat down and they asked if we would be her Godparents! Complete stranger to a godchild. Awesome! My wife tries to stay in touch with most of the families on a weekly basis! We have a stronghold on the Midwest for dart players and we are fortunate that our reputation is good, because everyone pitches in to help out . For example I have a group of ladies in Indiana that showed up with a check for about $2000 and baked goods from hell to sell that day of the benefit all a complete surprise! I have top players from around the world that donate products all the time to raffle off or silent auction. We have people from Taiwan, Japan, Australia ,Germany, Canada, Hong Kong etc. that help out all the time. This year we are hoping to crest the $100,000 mark for our 5th year anniversary! I would encourage you to look at the Darts for Kids Facebook page and the DFK 5th anniversary Jersey page as well to get more info or see some of the other children we help. If you have any other questions or need more information or details about something we do please don’t hesitate to contact me . Danny Baggish is a buddy of mine and when I saw he needed help I knew we couldn’t do anything with the gofundme page, but wanted to help. That’s where we are today. Colton’s name will appear on this years t-shirt as well check them out and give me a shout. Thanks, Bob.” No, thank YOU! READ COLTON’S STORY 2 days after his 6th birthday Colton was diagnosed with stage II Hodgkin Lymphoma. He just started his chemo treatment in April, 2016 and this will be an ongoing thing for about 6 months. Many friends and family members have been putting together fundraisers and Bobs Hudziks organization, Darts for Kids, sent them an amazing donation that they are forever grateful for. Colton’s Mom, Lyndsay wishes to thank the dart family for really pulling through for them. She told me “They are such amazing supporters! I am lucky to have all of them in my life!” Lyndsay is the girlfriend of Danny Baggish, pro dart player from Florida. She usually attends big dart tournaments to support him but due to Colton’s illness, she won’t be able to accompany him this year to Chicago. If you’ve got a little extra cash you wouldn’t mind sharing, WWW.THEMEDALLION.NET Colton has a gofundme page at https://www.gofundme.com/ drz92j58 . Use the hashtag #Coltonstrong to send well wishes too! Every little penny and every prayer helps. This is just one of the many children that Darts for Kids has helped over the past 5 years. Be sure to find them on Facebook and compliment them on the great job they’re doing. Ask them about upcoming tournaments and maybe how you can help by having your own! Thank you again to the dart community for being such a generous and giving group of people. I know Colton’s family would like to thank you from the bottom of their hearts. Go Colton! We’re all pulling for you! 7 THE BULLSHOOTER REGIONAL TOUR FINISHES SEASON The BullShooter ended their Regional Tour with Regionals in Georgia and Nebraska. MEET MEDALIST OPERATOR By Publisher MIKE BARTON The B&I originally housed not only an arcade but an elephant, bear, seal, chips, an ardvark and Ivan the gorilla, just to name a few. His business is currently run with a total of four workers, a new hire, himself, Ray Loader who’s been with him for 30 years, and another employee who has six years under his belt. If you’re looking for anything that either takes or gives money, you might want to consider contacting Triple H Amusements and say hi to Mike for us.
