Catholics believe that “The whole Christ is really, truly, and substantially present in the Holy Eucharist. We use the words ‘really, truly, and substantially’ to describe Christ’s presence in the Holy Eucharist in order to distinguish Our Lord’s teaching from that of mere men who falsely teach that the Holy Eucharist is only a sign or figure of Christ, or that He is present only by His power.” (The Baltimore Catechism, Lesson 26) “Christ instituted the Holy Eucharist at the Last Supper while the Apostles were present, the night before He died. Christ could not have used clearer, more explicit words than ‘This is My body.’ He did not say, ‘This is a sign of My body,’ or ‘This represents My body,’ but, ‘This is My body.’ Catholics take Christ at His word because He is the omnipotent God. On His word they know that the Holy Eucharist is the body and blood of Christ.” (The Baltimore Catechism, Lesson 26) Eucharistic adoration is the act of worshiping God as He is present in the consecrated Eucharist. Spending time before the Blessed Sacrament, in prayer and devotion, is exactly the same as spending time before the living God. The devotion begins with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. A priest or deacon removes the sacred host from the tabernacle and places it on the altar for adoration. When a consecrated host is placed in the monstrance, it is said to be a solemn exposition. Adoration ceremonies traditionally include Scripture readings, hymns, prayers and time for silent adoration. It really is a time for one on one time with Jesus. Pope Benedict XVI in Questions and Answers wrote on Eucharistic Devotion; “Adoration means entering the depth of our hearts in communion with the Lord, who makes Himself bodily present in the Eucharist. In the monstrance, he always entrusts Himself to us and asks us to be united with His Presence, with His risen Body.” Copied from: http://whycatholicsdothat.com —Please join us at Eucharistic Adoration in the St. Pius Prayer Chapel— Congregation of the Resurrection February 17 — Founders’ Day The Congregation of the Resurrection traces its origins to FEBRUARY 17, 1836 when a small group of Polish émigrés chose to live and work together. Bogdan Janski was the leader. He had come to Paris in 1828 to study law and economics. Janski got caught up in Saint-Simonism which preached a complete social, political and moral transformation of the world. Disillusioned by this, he was drawn into a licentious lifestyle and abandoned his childhood Catholic faith. Upon meeting Catholic social reformers, Janski returned to the faith and invited others to conversion. One of these was Peter Semenenko, a fiery revolutionary who fought in the unsuccessful November 1830 Polish rebellion against the Russian overlords. Semenenko fled to Paris, joined radical political associations and the Masons and became an atheist who led a dissolute lifestyle. With the influence of Janski, Semenenko had a conversion experience. Jerome Kajsiewicz had also fought in the unsuccessful revolution and fled to Paris where he abandoned his faith and led a life of partying and pleasure. Realizing his life was going nowhere, he became attracted to Janski and Semenenko and had a conversion experience. Janski, Semenenko and Kajsiewicz dreamed about the Christian revitalization of society. In order to do this a religious community was needed and they founded the Congregation of the Resurrection. Congregation of the Resurrection has been serving St. Pius X Parish since 2012. Please remember in your prayers the Resurrectionist Fathers & Brothers. “No podemos amar a Dios, a quien no vemos, y no amar a nuestros hermanos, a quienes vemos”, decía San Juan.
