President’s Message for 2015-16
Made in the USA, better yet, made in Texas. That is our product. A product that is loved by all. I
cannot remember ever seeing a negative item about our product. Being a nursery grower has many
challenges, but putting a “good public light” on our product is not one of them. One challenge we do
have with our customers is making sure our growing practices, if possible, do no harm. Members of
the Northeast Texas Nursery Growers Association adhere to the highest standards of husbandry. Our
Association is actively involved with keeping our members updated on new pest threats, chemical
advances to reduce or eliminate harmful side effects, and new cultivars to pique consumer interest
in our products.
The major event of our Association year is the annual trade show held each February. We all
recognize the convenience and effectiveness of mobile devices to apprise our customers of available
products, etc. The annual trade show gives us the chance to not only show what we grow, but to
connect in person with current and future customers – and to connect with each other. Please make
the show a major point in your annual promotion program. It takes a greater power to make a tree
grow, but each of us can make the NTNGA a vibrant asset of our business.
We would like to invite you to join the Northeast Nursery Growers Association. The objective of
this organization is to support, educate and further the relationship between nursery stock growers,
landscape architects, landscape contractors and retail garden center owners and operators and to
promote the general welfare of the nursery industry in the Northeast Texas area.

ary Moser Scholarship Fund was set up to honor Mary Moser who was
extremely active in NTNGA. This scholarship is intended to assist Texas
college students with their tuition and books, then, upon graduation plans
to enter the horticulture industry. The first Mary Moser Scholarship was
awarded in 1998. Mary and her husband Troy (1922-2015 ) were owners of
Whitehouse Gardens Wholesale Nursery in Whitehouse, Texas. If you are a
college student majoring in horticulture or a related field,
and have maintained a 3.5 GPA, you are eligible to apply for the
NTNGA Mary Moser Scholarship.

Leon Kramer, Victory Tree Farm, 2015 and 2016
Leon has an agricultural background growing up in Northeast Kansas.
In 2004 he started Victory Tree Farm near Lindale. He has been active
in NTNGA since that time.
Nigel Clark, Tree Town USA, 2014
Nigel started selling trees while in college in Georgia and has been
with TreeTown USA now for 8 yrs. He’s been involved in all areas of
the company, and is now in charge of their special projects division.
Mike Engleman, CDI Farms,2013
Mike Engleman has over 40 years experience as a nursery
professional in growing nursery stock, field and container production,
sales and marketing and management. Mike attended SWTSU in San
Marcos, Texas and is a Texas Master Gardener as well as a Texas
Certified Pesticide Applicator. He is the 2013 Past President and
2014 Chairman of the Board of Northeast Texas Nursery Growers
Association and is currently on the board of directors of NTNGA. Mike
works with Ran-Pro Farms, Inc. as a Sales Executive selling fruit,
shade and ornamental trees, roses, tree liners and citrus trees to the
landscape industry and independent garden centers throughout the
south and central United States.
Alan Heinrich, Tree Town USA, 2012
Alan is TreeTown USA’s North Texas Operation Manager. He has over
30 years experience in container tree production in Texas and Florida.
He is a member of the International Society of Arboriculture and has
been a ISA Certified Arborist for the past 20 years. Alan has served on
Texas Green Industry Safety Committee. He earned his M. S. degree
from Murray State University.
Gary Price, Eagle Mountain Tree Farm, 2011
Gary is a Stephen F. Austin graduate, has been married 34 years and
has 37 years in the Horticulture industry. He started as a research
assistant with Ortho Lawn and Garden and was IPM manager for two
local farms, leading to his current sales position.
Ches Lemmert, Helena Chemical, 2010
.Ches Lemmert has been a Salesman in the Nursery Greenhouse
industry in the Northeast Texas area for the past 10 years. I currently
work for Helena Chemical Company, and married to my wife Kim for
the past 12 years, we have a 9 year old son named Mason. I couldn’t
ask for a better group of people to work with than the customers and
friends I’ve made in this Industry.
Ben Fischer, EHR, 2009
Ben has worked at Tawakoni Plant farm as production manager, Mea
Nursery as Purchasing agent, Eason Horticulture as sales broker
during his 13 years as a NTNGA member. Ben has a wife Stacy, and
daughters Cecilia and Kathryn.
Jade Hopson, Circle G Nursery, 2008
Jade is a fourth generation in Circle G Nursery. The Galloway family
has been in business since 1925. They operate a growing location
in Grand Saline as well as a store in Irving. The Galloway family has
been active supporters of NTNGA for many years.
Reneé Cecil Heitman, Cactus Ranch, 2007
Cactus Ranch, specializing in cacti, succulents, harady Palms, sagos,
drought tolerant and rare tropical plants, has been in business for 25
years. Reneé has been a NTNGA member for 15 years.
Greg Arnold, Lee Tree Farm 2006
Greg has been the manager of Lee Tree farm and Nursery since
August of 2000. He served two terms as the president of the NTNGA.

Chris Pope, Pope’s Azalea Farm, 2005
Chris and her husband, Charles (Buddy) were owners of Pope’s Azalea
Farm until 2006, when they retired and sold the business to Jerry and
Beverly Trollinger. They still live near the farm, near Canton.
Luke Galloway, Circle G Tree Farm, 2004
Luke was the 3rd generation in Circle G Nursery. He worked in the
nursery his entire life and was an experienced grower. He was a hard
worker, family man and friend to many in the industry.
Gary Flory, Flory Tree Farm, 2003
Flory Tree Farm was established by Gary Flory in 1978 and is a charter
member of the NTNGA.Today FTF grows HARDY GROWN®, drought
tolerant, low water useage trees.
Bruce Miller, Bruce Miller Farms, 2002
Bruce Miller owns Bruce Miller Nursery in Edgewood, Texas. He
purchased the 150 acre farm in 1975 to support his retail/wholesale
outlet in Richardson. Bruce produces over 130 different plant varieties
at this location.
Jack Walter, Kimbrew Walter® Roses, 2001
Jack worked for Kimbrew Walter Roses and was very active in the
American Rose Society as well as NTNGA.
Chris Pope, Pope’s Azalea Farm, 2000
Chris and her husband, Charles (Buddy) were owners of Pope’s Azalea
Farm until 2006, when they retired and sold the business to Jerry and
Beverly Trollinger. They still live close by the farm, near Canton.
This tribute extends only through 2000. Many thanks to the
individuals who served as President before that time.
