Spin-e-fex Curly Q’s
Design Ideas:
Free Motion
Spin-e-fex is the first in our rotating template
series.
The etched markings are easy to see Westalee’s unique key gate allows you to place
the hopping foot inside the template and then
close the opening. This prevents the template
from expanding as you stitch and does not leave
you with a bump in the stitching where you
stitched past the opening.

RULER RULES
Always use a 1/2” Ruler Foot and an extension
table on your machine when using templates.
Make sure that your extension table is flat and
even with the machine bed. If you have any
irregularities where the table meets the machine
bed or holes you can use a Sew Steady Free
Motion Glider.
There are 2 methods for sewing the Spin-e-fex Rotating Templates templates
The Sewing line is shown in red

When using templates make sure that your quilt is
correctly basted using your preferred method.
Remember that every stitch of quilting that we
sew draws in our quilt, so it is always necessary
when quilting to make slight adjustments as you
go so that our pattern sews out correctly.
Slot
When using templates it is best to slow down.
Use the provided Stable Tape: cut down to 1/2”
strips and place in corners. This will help the
template grip the fabric for more precise designs.
Template
When holding the template on the quilt do not
push so hard that you restrict the movement of
the quilt.
Mark the block with a cross-hair. Cross hair lines
are reference lines that are 90° and 45° lines, I use
our Crosshair Marking Template.
You are now ready to stitch!
Mark crosshair lines to locate the center and for reference lines.
Place the Ruler Foot at the end of the Spin-e-Fex Curly Q template (with the needle and Foot set in
the down position), using the slot in the side of the template to guide the Ruler Foot into the template
(the slot in the template will accommodate the shaft of the Ruler Foot).
Sew around the inside of the template, starting at the skinny end and ending at the skinny end.
Rotate the template to the next position and sew.
Using the Spin-e-fex this way the design you create will measure the measurement shown on the
template.
