OUR HISTORY
St. Xavier’s College was founded by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in 1944, with the
primary objective of providing Higher Education in a Christian atmosphere to
Christian students and other deserving students. Although the College is a Minority
Institution, based on Religion , but it admits other students irrespective of caste
and creed.
The College aims at educating young men and women to become intellectually,
morally, socially and spiritually sound and committed in the service of humanity
and the Nation.
The College also aims at educating the less privileged students,
particularly the Tribal’s.
St. Xavier’s College became autonomous in July 2005. The College, however,
continues to be affiliated to the Ranchi University, Ranchi. It is an autonomous, in
the sense that it is free to frame its own course of studies and adopt innovative
methods of teaching and evaluation. The University Degree will be conferred on
the students after passing the examinations conducted by the College.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
St. Xavier’s College insists in the “character building of the students”. They should
become “men and women” for others. In a given context, experience the knowledge
, in a cognitive and effective manner through reflection, action and evaluation. These
are the paradigm of Jesuit way of proceeding and learning.
St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi aims at making effective contribution to the
transformation of prevailing social conditions : social justice, equality of opportunity,
democratic freedom for all, tolerance and respect for all religion may be brought
closer to realization, opening up to our people greater possibilities of fuller human
existence.

OUR STRENGTH
+ SUCCESS STORY
Today there are 27 Departments (Arts, Science, Commerce and Vocational) including UG
and PG Departments. Out of 75 teachers 50 teachers hold Ph.D degree and experienced
the Guest faculty some from XISS and industries. There are around 100 supporting staff.
UGC conferred the status of “ College with Potential for Excellence” in 2006; and NAAC ReAccreditation (3rd cycle) has brought about lot changes in the campus.
Introduction of Choice-based Credit system and Extension Activities has brought about
lot of discipline in academic field in one hand and Social consciousness in the other.
Every three years the re-structuring of curriculum both for UG and PG courses are
appreciated by all.
The feedback of teachers and curriculum by the students are positive factors.

Facilities
The central library has a collection of more than 1,00,000 books. There are Departmental
libraries, a separate P.G. Library, Journals, e-journals, -e books. There is a wi-fi facility in
the campus.
Our Co-curricular Activities
In extra- Curricular activities, students organize Annual College Fest known as “XavierUtsav” which marks the searching of students talents in songs, dances, creative activities
and oratory skills etc. The college organizes Annual sports activities, Inter Class Football,
Cricket and basketball matches. Educational tours, Industrial visits, On-the-Job training,
are regular activities of the Departments are appreciated by all the students.

ADMISSION PROCESS UG/PG
Instruction & Guidelines for Online Application
St. Xavier’s college is affiliated to the Ranchi University. At the completion of the
course, the Degree will be conferred by the Ranchi University. The selection of the
candidates for admission to different Honours courses will be done on the basis of an
Entrance Test in the subject in which the applicant is seeking Honours. A student may
apply for more than one subject in case he/she is not sure to get in the subject she/he is
applying.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
•
1. The UG/MCA course shall be of duration of three year (Six Semesters) and PG
course shall be of duration of two year (Four Semesters).
•
2. Candidates may apply for more than One Course/ subject. The payment also is
to be made separately for each course or subject.
•
3. For admission into Honours degree in any subject it shall be necessary for a
student to have obtained not less than 50% marks in the subject concerned and
also 50% in aggregate in the Intermediate + 2 examination. In B.Com Account
Honours, the applicant should have 50% in all the four subjects, namely- Accounts,
Business Maths/Maths, Economics and Business Organizations. Candidates are
advised not to apply if they had no Business Maths/Maths in XI and XII.
•
4. For admission into PG courses in any subject it shall be necessary for a student
to have obtained not less than 50% marks in the subject concerned and also in
aggregate in the graduate examination. The number of student for admission to
these courses are fixed.
•
5. A student with compartmental or failed in one subject should not apply.

DEGREE ADMISSION IN REGULAR COURSE AND SELF-FINANCING COURSE (VOCATIONAL
COURSE) for SESSION 2016-19
Online Applications are invited from eligible/ passed candidates, who have cleared
Intermediate Exams/ + 2 CBSE/ +2 ICSE/Other State Board +2 Exams/ Other Recognized
Boards by the Govt. for the session 2015-18.
The selection of the candidates for Admission to different Honours courses will be done on
the basis of an Entrance Test in the subject in which the applicant is seeking Honours. A
student may apply for more than one subject and may write more than one Entrance Test.

Only those students who have passed and have required percentage ( not below
50%) and have marks sheet/ cross list attested by the respective Principal can fill the
Online forms by depositing Rs. 700/- in any United Bank of India in Jharkhand ( A\C
No. – 1776050000134 (Regular Degree) , 1776050000143 (for Selffinance/vocational) and 1776050000152 (For MA/M.COM/MCA) through E-Challan &
Internet banking. Do not submit application fee directly (NEFT/RTGS).

One can fill the Online form for more than one Honours Courses for which one has to
appear in the entrance test also.
The Selection List will be prepared on the basis of Entrance Test.
The date of the Entrance test will be displayed on the College Notice Board as well as
in the College Website.
Last Date for submitting ONLINE APPLICATION FORM IS : Till one day before the
scheduled Entrance Exam. Check your Entrance Test Date & Time on College
website.

STEPS FOR ONLINE APPLICATION:

Registration
Login College Web-Site http://www.sxcran.org
Click on Admission> here you will get the link Apply Online & Complete registration
process.
The candidate should supply all details while filling the Online Registration
Form. The Registration Form mainly contains the personal details and contact
details of the candidates. After successful submission of the data, Registration
No. will be generated and it will be used to complete the remaining Steps of the
Application Form and also required for all future correspondence.
STEP :2
Pay Examination Fee by E-challan/Internet Banking
For Payment by United Bank of India challan (Can be download from online
application portal): The candidate has to select “Bank e-Challan” to submit the
application fee-through bank. As soon as he/she selects, an e-Challan will be
generated containing details of the candidate along with amount to be paid as
per their category and course(s) opted. The candidate has to take a printout of
the same and take it to the nearest Core Banking Service (CBS) facility enabled
Branch of the respective United Bank of India for making payment. Once the
payment has been confirmed by the Bank, we will activate the Transation Id
through you can process your online application form.
OR
Candidate can also pay fee by Debit/Credit Card/Net Banking of any bank. Fill in
the Online Application Form and note down system generated Transaction No
and complete next step.

c. The online application form fee is Rs. 700/- (Rupees seven hundred
only). Pay Rs. 700/- at any UNITED BANK OF INDIA Branch in India through
bank-challan which is generated after registration in Online Application portal.
d. The bank will provide a TRANSACTION ID against your payment, which will
be required at the time of filling ONLINE APPLICATION FORM.
e. After submitting application fee in the bank, wait for at least four hours to
activate
your Transaction ID.
f. You may pay Online Application Fee through Net Banking/Debit/Credit card also.

Upload Passport Photo
Upload Scanned Images of latest Passport Photograph.
Note : The scanned images of latest photographs should be in jpg format only.
Size of the photographs must be greater than 4 kb and less than 100 kb. Image
Dimension of photograph should be 3.5 cm(width) * 4.5 cm(Height) only
STEP-4
Fill Application Form
Fill Online Application Form : The candidate should supply all details while
filling the Online Form. The Application Form mainly contains the personal
details/Educational Details and contact details of the candidates. After
successful submission of the data, Application Form No. will be generated and it
will be used to complete the remaining Steps of the Application Form and also
required for all future correspondence.
* NOTE : No change will be accepted through offline mode i.e. through
fax/application or by email etc. No correspondence in this regard will be
entertained.
a. Now fill up the ONLINE FORM, after successfully filling up the application
form, take printout of ADMIT CARD, APPLICATION FORM for your future
reference.
• b. The Admit Card should be attested by the Principal/Head of the Department.
These documents, must be brought at the time of Admission.
• c. If the application fee is paid after the last date mentioned above, the
application
will not be accepted.
• d. Once the fee is paid in the Bank, no refund can be claimed for any
reason
whatsoever.
Please keep a note of your Application Form No/Code No (e.g. BA1214/098838/0001) which you will be required for further reference.
•
Note:
a. After submitting application fee through E-Challan in the bank, it takes at least four hours
to process and activate your Transaction Reference ID.
b. After submitting application fee through online Net Banking/Debit/Credit Card use
your Transaction Reference ID and Date of Payment for filling online application form.
c. Kindly bring your ORIGINAL BOARD/10th EXAM ADMIT CARD and MARKS SHEET at the time
of
entrance test.
d. The admit card should be duly attested by the Principal of your school.
e. If the application fee is paid after the last date mentioned above, the Online Application will
not be accepted.
f. Once the fee is paid in the Bank, no refund can be claimed for any reason whatsoever.
