Roots: I grew up a farm kid in southern
Alberta. Two years at Bethany Bible Institute
was followed by an engineering degree at UofS
in Saskatoon.
CEDAR LODGE
Beginning Pastoral Ministry: The Clearbrook
MB Church called, asking me to be their
Associate Pastor for Youth, Christian
Education and Music. We said goodbye to
farming, trucking and engineering, and moved
our family to Abbotsford.
All bedding and towels are provided. Each room has a three-piece
bath and sleeps 3 or 4 people, sharing rooms is encouraged.
Limited space. Cedar Lodge houses our indoor pool, hot tub,
sauna complex.
Formal Preparation: If pastoral ministry was to become a long-term
direction, I would need more training. We moved to Fresno to attend
Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary.
Manitoba: We arrived in Manitoba at the invitation of the Richmond Park
MB Church in Brandon. Ten years later we moved to Winnipeg to assist
the transition of Concord College into Canadian Mennonite
University. Another season of pastoral ministry followed, at Fort Garry
MB Church.
Retirement: A little more time to spend with Merrill (my life partner of 46
years), our four children and eleven grandchildren. A short stint at McIvor
MB Church, filling in a pastoral leave. And renovating our house.

THE SANDERSONS
Jim & Kate Sanderson are musicians and song writers that present the gospel through their music &
testimonies, singing about the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Their songs give a message of faith and
hope. Jim & Kate minister wherever God leads and are dedicated to spending the rest of their lives
‘encouraging the saints and reaching the lost’.
